denim jeans color is rubbing off...what to do?

i got some great new trouser jeans for christmas..the wash is a very dark color and even after washing the ink keeps rubbing off on my tees and hands when i scratch my legs...does anyone know what i can do to stop the finish from rubbing off? how to wash it to prevent it??

Re: denim jeans color is rubbing off...what to do?

  • Big Smile Turn them inside out when you wash them and they won't fade.
  • You could try vinegar.   Vinegar is one of the ways to "set" dye, and keep it from running (I learned this in a textile class in college).    Just pour some in the washer (use a lot....its cheap and won't hurt to overdo it) when you wash them.

I usually wash new dark jeans 2 or 3 times, on cold and inside out, before I wear them.    So maybe you just need to wash them a few more times?

  • Are they from Anne Taylor by any chance?!! My coworker and I both have these jeans and no matter what we do they WILL NOT stop rubbing off. Ive washed them 4 or 5 times now and I still routinely look like a smurf by the end of the day after wearing them!! I havent tried vinegar yet though, so I might do that this weekend and see how it goes.
