WIJFR- Let's Explore Diabetes with Owls *no sp*

David Sedaris is back! I was SO disappointed with his last book (Squirrell Seeks Chipmunk),  but my library had this available as ebook, so I decided to take the chance and was hoping that it would be much better, and it was! He's back to writing essays based on ridiculous moments in his, and his family's lives, with a few random short essays thrown in for good measure. If you are a Sedaris fan, you will definitely enjoy reading this.

  • I read that one a week or two ago as well!  I agree that it really got back to what he's best at.

  • I'm so glad to hear this! I wasn't going to pick it up because of how much I disliked Squirrel Seeks Chipmunk but I'll pick it up now!

I've never read anything by him but I saw him on Jon Stewart a couple of weeks ago.  The man was completely helpless with laughter.  I thought about picking this up then.

You totally should! His humor can lean towards the raunchy side, but I love it so!

  • I read this right after it came out and was happy he decided to go back to what he does best.  Squirrel Meets Chipmunk was a TOTAL disappointment.

When I went to his reading in April someone asked if he'd ever publish his diaries and he said that was going to be his next book.  I think that would be a pretty good read.  He reads his entries sometimes and uses his diary as the basis for his stories, so I think it'd be good even though it'd be a little different from his usual essays...AND importantly, nothing like Squirrel Meets Chipmunk.

    That would be fantastic!

  • This is so good to hear.  I just bought this after reading some reviews on amazon and was so hoping I was not going to be disappointed.  the Squirrel book was awful.  I also thought his last book of essays was not as good either (when you are engulfed in flames??) so I hope this is better.
