Feline diabetes

Hi everyone.  I guess I'm kind of new to this board, but I've been on the knot, nest, bump for years. I just got home from the vet where my 13 year old cat was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.  He has been switched to a low carb diet plus insulin twice a day. I was just wondering if anyone out there has been in this situation, or if anyone has any tips or advice for me. It was all a bit overwhelming today and is only now starting to hit me. Thank you.

  • The key is being 100% consistent with the diet and insulin dosing. It is vital for the regulation of your cat. And have hope, most cats get diabetes because they are over weight, there is a chance your cat may revert (become non diabetic) with proper diet and weight control.
