Menu Help - birthday party

Hello All,

I am planning a birthday party for my 1 year old next week.  Its mostly adults with a few children. It's been requested that I serve a buffalo chicken dip. What type of entree would you serve?  I'd like something simple as there will be close 20 adults.

 Thank you!

Re: Menu Help - birthday party

  • Maybe do a "build your own sandwich" line. You could get a few different lunch meats and breads and a bunch of toppings (lettuce, tomato, cheese, etc). Maybe also include a jar of peanut butter and jelly for the kids. Then everyone can make exactly what they want. Plus side dishes for sandwiches are super easy!
  • love that sandwich idea!!

baked ziti or lasgna is pretty easy for a crowd! you could serve with a salad as well

  • You could always do some sort of shredded meat for sandwiches in the Crock Pot (pork, chicken, beef).  We did that for DS's first birthday and we also served mac and cheese, and baked beans, and we had cheese and crackers and veggies and dip.

For his 2nd birthday we did a hot dog bar, which went over really well!  We just heated hot dogs in water in the Crock Pot and then we had chili sauce and cheese as well as things like chopped onions, relish, mustard, and ketchup of course and then we served a variety of chips.  I also did fruit veggie trays with dips.

Our house isn't big enough to host so we always have to travel so I have to think of meals that will travel well and preferably can be served from the Crock Pot :)

  • well I would serve that dip with chips and celery/carrots.

Do you know a good mac and cheese recipe...or sloppy joe's/beef barbeque...either one with a big salad

  • Thanks everyone for the great advice!
