Book for 5th grade boy?

Re: Book for 5th grade boy?

  • hmm...here are a couple that I could remember reading at some point around that age.

The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe

    Where the Red Fern Grows

    The Giver

    Hatchet

    Old Yeller

    My Side of the Mountain

    Tuck Everlasting

the first couple Harry Potter books would be appropriate too.

  • Rec list found on google.

Don't know if the list is any good...I've just paged my teacher friend to come in and give suggestions. She teaches older students, I only teach pre-k!

Lilypie Angel and Memorial tickers Lilypie Angel and Memorial tickers
  • Tiki and Ronde Barber have (I think) two books out for kids in that age group.  I bought the paperback one for my nephew a while ago.  If the boy is into football he might like them, they're stories of the Barber's growing up.
  • These are cool ones according to my students...
    Diary of a Wimpy Kid
The Bone Series by Jeff Smith
The 39 Clues or The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

  • My 4th grade students love Diary of a Wimpy Kid.They also like Harry Potter, Eragon, Series of Unfortunate Events. My kids also like the Gerinomo Stilton books, but they are very easy to read and it depends on their reading level. Sideways Stories from Wayside School, There's a Boy in the Girls Bathroom, Frindle. HTH!

Ditto all this and OnThePatio's suggestions.  The warrior series by Erin Hunter is also popular.

My first suggestion is the diary of a wimpy kid books.  There are 3 and the third one is coming or just came out.
