Please recommend a restaurant near our DC hotel for tomorrow...

We are staying at the JW Marriott tomorrow night as a mini getaway (yes, less than 10 miles from our house, ha ha).  We're just going to play tourists during the day and go to museums and walk around.  Can anyone recommend a good restaurant for dinner near the hotel that is preferably walking distance (or a short cab ride)?  Here's the address:

1331 Pennsylvania Ave

I'm open to all kinds of food suggestions and price ranges (well, not crazy expensive).  Thanks!  Smile

  • Oceanaire and Chef Geoff's are both very close to there. You're also only about 7 or 8 blocks from all the restaurants in the Penn Quarter/Gallery Place/Chinatown area - considering you'll have a long day and you're 33 weeks pg, you should take a cab, though. I love Matchbox, Rosa Mexicano, Jaleo, District Chophouse, Zola, Zaytinya - there are tons more - that's just what I thought of off the top of my head.

  • DH works right in Penn Quarter so he isn't too thrilled with the idea of eating there, although I do love Rosa Mexicano!  I've always wanted to try Oceanaire; I think I'll go google the menu.  Thanks!  :)
  • That makes sense to avoid Penn Quarter then!

If you like seafood, Kinkead's is at 2000 Pennsylvania Avenue - it's my favorite restaurant. Also, there was a lunch GTG at Founding Farmers back in October, and it was pretty good, although the service was uneven - it's been a while that it's open now, so they've probably ironed out the kinks. It's also on Pennsylvania Ave - maybe 1700 or 1800.
