Desperate for a clean shower

So I fear everything that I use for my normal cleaning routines will not even touch the grime in my shower. FI comes home covered in carbon after work and leaves the showing black and there is nothing I can do with any natural or eco friendly alternatives. Please help before I find myself desperate enough to buy scrubbing bubbles. Much appreciated.

Re: Desperate for a clean shower

  • Have you tried straight vinegar?  Spray on, let it sit, scrub off.  But don't let it sit so long that it dries.

  • Try vinegar like the above poster suggested.

    Or

You can also use the Descaler from Norwex - I use this on a regular basis and like  it a lot!

  • Carbon is a whole different ballgame. I've found the only way I can clean carbon off of anything is with a citrus cleaner and salt. I'm trying to remember what I used to use (haven't had a job where I get carbon everywhere for a while).

After some googling I can't remember what exactly I used but it was similar to this:

     Mix these in a bowl:

    • ? cup salt
    • ? cup borax
    • 1 box (16 oz.) baking soda
    • 1/4 cup water (approximately)

Mix these in a spray bottle:

    • ? cup white vinegar
    • 10 drops thyme essential oil
    • 10 drops lemon essential oil

First use the salt / borax mixture. Just throw it on where ever the carbon is. Then spray a little from the bottle over that mixture. Wait only a couple of minutes (like, 2) and scrub off with a bristle brush. When you're done you should do a little maintenance on your drains to keep the carbon from building up and causing them to drain slowly. You can put a 1:1 mixture of washing soda and baking soda down the drain and flushing with vinegar.

I'm having flashbacks of dirty carbon fingerprints all over everything in my house (and I couldn't even blame it on someone else! It was all me).

  • This has really helped. It's not 100% but it sure beats being so bad I face palm every time I pull back the curtain.
