BAH question!! *also posed on military families

Ok so my hubby is deployed and hehas orders to go to ft lenardwood when he returns. By the time he comes home i will be halfway through my associates degree in ECE and by transfering will loose most of my credits and will basicly have to start all over again. Hubby and i were thinking that he wil go to leanardwood (obviously) And Me, our son, and our dog will stay here in WA untill i finish my degree. So my question is this. if he is living in the barraks and i am over here in WA will we get bah? Even half will help TIA

Re: BAH question!! *also posed on military families

  • I can't answer your question but Leanardwood f*cking rocks.  That is all.
    Shot first, questions later.
  • If he already qualifies for BAH, then yes you should be able to keep it.  He will be considered a geo-bachelor and his BAH would be based off where his dependents are living.

  • I "think" so but I'm not 100% sure.  I know I got BAH while DH was in boot camp and in his schooling for 2 months.

  • See page 13 of the .pdf (26-11)

    http://comptroller.defense.gov/fmr/07a/07AIC24-03.pdf

2603 MEMBERS WITH DEPENDENTS 260301. Entitlements.

    A. When Entitled To BAH. A member with dependents who is entitled to basic pay is entitled to BAH at the rates prescribed for members with dependents when:

    1. Adequate government quarters are not furnished for the member and dependents without payment of rental charge.

    2. Adequate government quarters are not furnished for the member?s dependents, or all of the member?s dependents are prevented by competent authority from occupying such quarters, even though quarters are assigned for the member?s occupancy. Does not apply to the provisions of paragraph 260409.

    3. Dependents are not en route or do not accompany the member to the permanent duty station, or the vicinity thereof, so as to preclude assignment of family quarters. Under such circumstances, the mere availability of quarters which could have been assigned does not defeat the right of a member to the BAH for dependents. See Table 26-9 for the location to be used in determining the member?s BAH entitlement.

I got that by Googling "DFAS unaccompanied BAH".

Does spelling matter in early childhood education? Please talk to a counselor at the school you would like to transfer to. Believe me, most will transfer even if the courses sound different.

  • Spellcheck, sweetie. Jeebus.

Also, I'm from that neck of the woods. Look into community colleges that would also offer Associates degrees in early childhood ed. Ozarks technical community college probably has a Fort Leonard Wood (three words!!) campus.

None of us can help you. You need to go ask Finance at your base. The privatization might make a difference in whether or not your H will still qualify for BAH. (See my first reply.)

Google doesn't care about your spelling, so perhaps you should start taking your questions there. That's where I found DFAS's answers. Good luck.

This is different than geo-bach housing.

If there is room, he can live in geo bach housing. They can take up to half, I believe. You'll receive BAH for Ft. Leonard Wood, not where you're living.

I just looked it up & FLW is about $350 less than Lewis.
