Clicky: do you have a gym membership?

Re: Clicky: do you have a gym membership?

  • I work at a gym, so I have a membership, but it is free.

I guess my CrossFit gym membership still counts as a gym membership, but hoping to get that waived once I start training for them in the future.

  • The gym is my hero.

It has kick-butt classes that keep me motivated... Without those group classes, I would be lucky if I managed the motivation to work out 3 days a week even.

  • My employer covers my membership in a large, fancy-schmancy gym. I would definitely not pay for it out of pocket, but it's pretty great. I do, however, have to pay the taxes on the benefit of the free membership, & the taxes alone are about the price of most other gyms.
  • There's a gym in my apartment building that's actually pretty nice.

  • I usually only join the gym for the winter months, but I love my gym so much that I kind of don't want to let my membership lapse again this summer, even though I hardly ever use it in the summer.
  • I do, it's one of the cheapest plans I could find. I just signed up so I could have a treadmill in case it was raining or I couldn't run outside for whatever reason.
    Running buddies are forevah.

  • I just canceled my membership. We have a treadmill, elliptical, and full weight set in the basement in front of a TV with DVR. Plus, I play hockey once a week and love to run outside when it's nice -- I wasn't getting my money's worth at all.
  • SS, I have one but it has been on hold since DD #3 arrived...7 months ago!  Winter has been practically snow-free and very mild so I have been running outside more than I usually do from Nov-Mar.  I would like to build up my home gym a bit so I can supplement my running but until I do that, I will probably have to venture back into the gym sooner rather than later.  Sigh...closest gym is $52/month so I haven't been missing that withdrawal from our checking account every month.

  • I don't, but I work in a hospital that has a beautiful, large workout facility for it's cardiac rehab clients that employees are allowed to use for free so I use that if I don't run outside.

  • I have one but I haven't used it  in so many months. I just started going back to take advantage of their weights. I have a Planet Fitness Membership and I'm thinking about canceling and joining the gym closer to our house. It's more expensive but it has classes

  • i do, but only because i utilize the daycare.  if i did not have kids, i would spend the money on a hot yoga studio instead, and swim at the community pool for $2 (which has an attached weight room).  i would probably miss to some degree, but i struggle to get my monthly's money worth.

  • I have one at the moment. I use it for yoga classes and to do my strength training. I am moving, so I am cancelling it at the end of the month and probably won't join a gym in my new location. My apartment complex has a decent gym, though, so that helps.

  • I have a memebership, but right now my usage of it is bordering on creeper status. I run with a running group in the morning very early, however said running group meets by my work. Therefore, I run 7-10 miles, then head to the gym, strech and shower. Yes, creepy, I know, but I just don't have a lot of interest in weights or anything else right now. My office does have a gym but I am a little scared of wandering up to the office building at 6:30am looking a hot mess to shower- if someone saw me on the reg, I feel like they might talk. So, I'll keep paying the $30 a month to shower and strech at my gym and who know maybe I'll get back in the pool eventually...For now, I'm your standard gym creeper, nice to meet you. :)

ha, i forgot - i use my gym for showers a lot too!  its by my work and its by my favorite trail system.  so i will often trail run before or after work, and then go to the gym just to shower.

sometimes i run with my kids, and drop them off at daycare so i can take a nice shower in peace!

ha. this actually makes me feel better about spending $50/month for the gym i barely use.

  • I love my gym! It's UFC, and really amazing- full of strong women, and nat as cheezy as I thought it would be. It's really inspiring. I have a home gym (room w/a treadmill and tv) but it's become more of a staging room for rides and other workouts. I keep all of my gym clothes in there, and my bike trainer and stuff for when I'm stuck at home.
  • I did, but cancelled it recently because it didn't have classes. Since the weather's been so nice, I found myself running outside more and never joined another one.
