Checking in from the hospital

I apologize in advance for being an AW but I think some of you wanted an update. Surgery went well according to the surgeon. I am swollen and my jaw is sore. They are trying to feed me...sooner wasn't only 330 calories but I couldn't fit the Popsicle in my mouth. :( hopefully going home tomorrow. I have to drink, drink, drink! But that makes me a little nauseous probably because I am hungry...

Re: Checking in from the hospital

  • I'm glad it went well - feel better!!  When do you get to eat again?

  • glad everything went well. Could they let you try a protein shake or something with some PB in it to help curb the hunger??

are you getting any of this warm weather we're enjoying in the midlands? if so, get yourself some wonderful time outside in the sun in between naps Smile

  • I just asked for more food & water. Consuming like 400 calories for te day is for the birds. I don't care who you are. LOL D is bringing me a shake in the AM. The hospital is restricting me to clear liquids (broth, jello, juice, etc). TMI - Apparently I need to figure out how to pass gas as one of the rings I must do. That is tough with just liquids... Just sayin'
  • broccoli soup!!! might not be the breakfast of champions, but if it's still needed will probably help get the job done.... Stick out tongue

yeah, i don't think I could live on just 400 calories. This is actually one of my big fears for L&D with the food restriction once I get to the hospital - I become a *** without food....

  • Glad it went well!  Hope you get some food soon!
  • Thing is, I don't *feel* hungry because of all the fluids they are pumping...but I do low that I am hungry. I mean there is no way I am not hungry, KWIM?
  • Glad it went well, hope you get some more food in you!

Llora - I promise, food will be the last thing on your mind.  I think I ate once in like 24 or so hours and I didn't even realize.  and clearly, I like to eat.
  • Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

Funny you say that...opposite for me! Well, sort of. With Taryn, I didn't think about food during labor, but was starving when I got into my recovery room at 1 am. With Tessa, I was starving while on pitocin and was still thinking about when I'd get to eat even when the contractions got bad. When I was finally wheeled into recovery with Tessa, literally the first thing I asked my nurse was if I was allowed to eat now :)

  • So glad it went well! Hope you have a speedy recovery :)
  • I'm glad things went well!

How were those drugs treating ya? :)

  • Drugs are good. They make the pain tolerable but I not floating on cloud 9 or anything. I can't do Loritab (hydrocodinr) because it makes me nauseous and light headed...the "high" doesn't agree with me. :). Mostly I feel sore like my jaw had an incredible workout...plus a sexy fat lip. I have pictures and will update my blog maybe this afternoon. I will let everyone know when I do. Thanks for all of your well wishes ladies!
  • Thinking of you!

Your PP reminded me of an episode of Scrubs where they wouldn't let this woman leave the hospital until she could pass gas... and the woman was all prim and proper and wouldn't do it, so she just stayed and stayed and stayed!

  • Wishing you an easy recovery!
  • Glad everything went well!!

And, trust me, I know the low calorie/liquid diet SUCKS. You'll be back to normal in no time though, gas and all. :)

  • I hope you feel better soon!

Avoid the Food Network.  I made the mistake of watching it all day while I was out after my tonsillectomy.  Creamed spinach and mashed potatoes were my go to meals as soon as I could swallow - no chewing involved.
