I just remembered we haven't hooked our basement in our alarm system

The previous owners had a motion detector but with the cats and all, we turned it off.  The windows were all sealed shot (very old) so we thought we were fine.  But we had one window replaced a couple of years ago, and well, it opens.  We really need to get the alarm hooked on it, I just never got around to it.

And now DH is OOT and I'm scaaaaared.  I'm such a wuss.  Does anyone have a dog I could borrow?

  • You can borrow my Pug, but he will just welcome the intruder by licking him and making him feel at home:) I know what you mean, I am so much more freaked out when H is not at home! I have mace in my night stand and we have a bat under the bed, lol. We also live in a safe neighborhood, but you never know.

  • Oh yeah, I live in a super safe area.  But still! What if they think the house is empty? I should put a sign pointing to the neighbour's houe saying "THAT house is empty, they are OOT for the week, YWIA".

I have no idea if they're OOT or not, but I have two children.  :-P

  • Get a bat, it will make you feel better:)

  • lol Mofongo

I have a panic button right next to my bed.  I sometimes practice how I'd jump and push it if someone breaks in.

    lol

    This just reminded me...

We started setting our alarm at night and two nights ago, I woke up out of a dead sleep because I heard an alarm going off. I turned the light on and ran out of our bedroom. H was like "What's wrong?!" and I said "THE ALARM IS GOING OFF!"

He told me he thought "She didn't even take the bat... and I'm not getting out of bed..."

It ended up being the neighbors alarm (we're in a townhome) so false alarm for us, but lol @ H. Such a protector.

Papie, you'll be okay! Get one of those alarms that hangs on the doorknob and keep the basement door closed, if someone opens it, it'll go off.

LOL, your H was useless.  I'd have kicked my H out of bed "Do your job!".

I like your idea.  Maybe for now I could just out a pile of crap there? lol

lol! I love that you ran OUT of the room. Our alarm did go off one night (turned out to be a malfunction) I grabbed the dog and ran in the bathroom.

I would DIE.  But thanks, now I'm making a scenario in my head that makes sense.  I always wondered where I'd go first and all.  So I'd grab Anna, then Sophia and go to the front bathroom next to Sophia's room.  Then I'd lock the door, open the window and SCREAM.

Oh wait, I need to press the panic button first.  But I guess it is useless once the alarm is already on? Or maybe double alarm means urgent for them?

GRRRRR.  I need to stop thinking about that and just go to bed.
