I need to find a home for two cats. Know anyone?

I have two females that are fixed. I have been trying to find a good home for them but most people I know are allergic.

  • Have you looked into Capitol Area Humane Society? I'm sure you'd rather find them a home, but CAHS is a safe place for them where they will stay until they find a home. They only take surrendered pets who have their shots etc. It's worth looking into if you can't find a family for them.

May I ask why you're trying to find them a home?

Yah, I would rather find them a home than just drop them at a shelter. The humane society will put them down if they don't find them a home and that makes me sad.

My XH and I had them together and when we divorced I had to take them with me.I live in an apartment now because XH got the house in the divorce and having two pets in an apartment gets expensive with pet fees and deposits. Just not a situation I ever imagined when we first got them.

My SO now is really allergic to them too and has to take allergy pills constantly to be able to visit here and even then he has to just be in my bedroom with the door shut (they aren't allowed in my room) so that is causing additional stress.

  • CAHS does not euthanize the animals, each pet has to be "evaluated" before they're even accept them  - you're probably still not interested, but here is the link to their website (http://www.cahs-lansing.org/index.php/community-resources/surrender).

I understand your situation , have you tried an add in the news paper?

  • I'm really sorry you are in such a tough position. I know how expensive pet deposits can be

On the allergy side though, there is a good chance SO will become used to them. DH was severely allergic to mine, and we now have a handful of cats and no allergies.

I did not know this. I will have to look into it. I know that Shiawassee county always has ads on craigslist for their shelter and it will say things like, "This animal is set to be euthanized in three days" and those kind of ads don't sit well with me at all.

I put them both on Petfinder, I've posted ads on Craigslist, and I put status updates on Facebook hoping someone knows someone. SO has asked around work. I don't know many other options.
