Getting boots stretched?

My calves are large, and the new boots I bought from online dont fit...Has anyone gotten the shaft of their boots stretched at a shoe repair place?

How much can they be stretch on average, how long does it take a business to do this and what's the cost?  Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Getting boots stretched?

  • I do it for a lot of my boots.  On average, they stretch from about 1/2"-1", but it really depends on the style of the boot and the thickness/texture of the leather.  Mine cost ~$15/pair.  If you take them in, they should be able to quickly tell you if they think they will be able to stretch.  I usually try them on for the guy, and show him where it is tight so he can focus on that area.

Thanks!  I called a local place and they said the same as your response.  I would need more of a stretch than that.  Otherwise they would have to cut into the boot and add stretch material (dont think I want that).  Looks like I will be returning them :(
