Friday FFC

Anything?? This board has been a bit slow.

My FFC: I think it is really silly to bring kids younger than three to DisneyWorld. Why would you want to spend so much money for something the kid is not going to remember? Plus, when I was there all I heard were the kids complaining to their parents about how they wanted to go back to the hotel to go swimming. In addition, it was "funny" to see parents get mad at their kids when they refused to take pics with the characters because they were scared. Even the people at Disney had to intervene to tell me that not to force their kid to hug Pluto.

  • Disney related- I do not understand child free adults who go to Disney every year. A girl on my local knot board does this some times she adds a Disney cruise as well.  I don't understand.  AND she is a teacher, I want to be away from kids when I have off, I really don't get it at all.  I going when she has kids.  I get going on a cruise now with adults or an AI even, I just don't get going every year sans kids.

  • I have so much anger toward my XH right now.  I hate that I have to do everything and set up my life again and he's not making it any easier (read: a medical bill of mine that he is legally obligated to pay has gone into collections and he's still holding off on paying it).  I know this anger isn't healthy and that I should probably seek counseling so I don't become a bitter biatch, but I think I'm going to let myself brood for a while instead.

  • I dont get people who go back to the same place every year. Dont you want to mix things up a bit? Variety is the spice of life.

  • Work is driving me insane. I am so ready to leave as I feel like I'm totally underworked and they are just paying me to sit around. I make a significant chunk more than everyone else here except the senior team but I feel like I do way less. I don't understand how they don't realise this and utilise me MORE. I've tried to create work, ask for it, do other things, but I just dont get anywhere. I want to have some meaning in my job!

I like most of the people and many other aspects of the job ... and I have advanced and will continue to advance here quicker than anywhere else. But it's killing me. However now i feel like I shouldn't leave because they've said (in writing) that they will help cover my visa costs when it's up for renewal in March. Covering these on my own would really hurt me financially. So I feel stuck.

Not sure that's a confession but I'm particularly annoyed after an email just sent from my boss that told me to "RELAX" - I was just asking if he'd had any feedback from a workshop I gave this week.

  • I'm not particularly looking forward to going home for a particular reason. Last time I travelled home while pregnant my mom told pregnancy horror stories at the dinner table. Stuff so bad that we all sat there with jaws dropped in shock before I finally found enough voice to choke out for her to please stop. With this pregnancy she has already asked "are you fat yet?" Yay. I'm hoping that she's too distracted with the wedding to pester me.

  • After trying for and praying for this little one for so long, I feel extremely guilty for feeling so awful about my changing body.  I just noticed stretch marks on my breasts yesterday and cried for an hour.

I hate the way I look right now.  I should be grateful that I am able to get pregnant and carry my child and feel so guilty about being this superficial.

  • Also Disney-related. I have zero desire to ever take DD to Disney. ILs, however, loooove Disney and have been wanting to take DD there. DH and I thought she was still too young for a "solo with the grandparents vacation" this year, but I think we're going to lure them to visit us in France next summer with the promise of EuroDisney. That way, they get excited about France (which they're not, it's too "foreign" for them), DD gets to see her grandparents and, best of all, we get out of having to take a young child to Disney. It feels like a win-win for everyone.

Legoland in Denmark, however, IS a place I am excited about visiting with DD next year. Oh, and the strange little folk adventure park in Madeira where most of the things are kid-sized. It's just Disney I can't stand.

  • Disney is free for kids 3 and under. We are not Disney people but we were in Orlando a month before Finn turned 3 and decided to go since he was free, and he loved it.

I never understand why people (not on here specifically but it happens a lot on the Travel board) care where other people vacation.

Ditto. I've gotten some snippy comments/flack from people about how much $/time I spend traveling internationally with DD when "she's too young to remember it anyway." It's not their money, it's not their time, and I don't really care to hear about how "their kids can travel internationally when they can buy their own plane tickets." Actually, I kind of judge that attitude, so maybe I'm guilty of your statement. I don't think traveling with kids is a waste of money.

I feel like this conversation comes up a lot around here.  Not just on the travel board.

ETA:  I totally agree with you.  I don't care where anyone goes on Vacation.  Why should I?  I only care if I'm going with them.
