Usually sometime between 1 and 3 all I want to do is lay down and nap. It always passes but I hate feeling this way everyday when the kids come home from school. (maybe that's why. lol)
I do eat pretty well, although I am sure I could do better. Today I had a whole grain waffle w/ pb&J for breakfast, snack was greek yogurt w/granola and lunch was leftover tortellini w/ small piece of sausage and an apple. I could use more veggies I suppose. But even on salad says I still have this funk in the early afternoon.
I always think..."oh a cup of coffee will help" but it never does.
zzzz........
Re: ugh, why do I get so tired in the afternoon?
Honestly, I used to get like this until I started going to bed between 10 and 10:30 and waking up to work out at 5.
I'm sorry, I know that's not what you wanted to hear. Since you have kids that's probably not a viable option for you at all!
Maybe throw in an apple closer to when the kids come home? Possibly with some peanut butter? I don't know if it's true, but I've heard that an apple wakes you up as well as a cup of coffee in the morning and since it's fruit you don't get a crash from it like you would from sugar or caffeine. Could be a total lie, but I've convinced myself of it!
Yes,I'm smiling...I'm a marathoner!

I hate you very much
More protein and water. I didn't see much protein in your lunch.
ETA - I try to eat around 25-30g of protein per meal and 10-15gs for snacks.
Omg this is me. Every day...2pm. I have had to block my calendar so no meetings are scheduled as I will 1) be of no use in the meeting or 2) be so damn giddy I can't stop laughing. I don't over eat at lunch either....as if I did or choose a heavy meal...I would fall asleep at my desk no doubt. You aren't alone!
