Anyone know of great Maui Condo to rent?

We're hoping to head to Maui Jan/Feb because we have a few free tickets that will be expiring. We would be on a tight budget. We thought renting a condo with a kitchen would be the way to go. We're hoping to find a 1 or 2 bedroom on the beach. It doesn't have to have a view, but does have to be in walking distance. We're contemplating Kaanapali or Wailea (or immediate surrounding areas) Anyone stay at a great place they can vouch for? Thanks!Paradise

Re: Anyone know of great Maui Condo to rent?

  • DH and I stayed at the Hale Pau Hana in Kihei earlier this month. It's a little older but the room was clean and the location is fantastic (right on Kam II beach). I'd have no problem staying there again (if I ever get back to Maui).

  • We liked the Westin Kaanapali Villas but it was not a budget property.  Very nice though.
  • We stayed at the Maui Kai.  I think the units can be hit or miss, however we stayed in this one:

I highly recommend this unit and the owners were great to work with.  The views from this unit were incredible.

  • If you check out trip advisor the first (top rated) properties in Maui are all condo rentals, there was a lot of information just reading the reviews.

A lot of them are booked because they are someone's vacation home, January is a popular time to visit Hawaii, so a lot of owners block those weeks out.

  • We loved the Aston Ka'anapali Shores.
  • Check out the Maui Kai condos. Right on the beach in the Lahaina/Kaanapali area & every unit has an ocean view. We stayed in a one bedroom at a good rate, but they also have studio units available that are more budget friendly.

    I booked through www.mauicalls.com

I can't remember the exact name but it's just north of Ka'anapali Beach.  We spent a lot of time on the beach by the condo, drinking, swimming and snorkeling (not in that order).  The best snorkeling we found was at Black Rock, which is a 5 minute drive from the condo.

It's safe to swim too, however it's not the best we found on the island.  There's another beach just north of Black Rock that had really great swimming.

  • Aston Kaanapali Shores!

Check out redweek.com for good deals on condos.  We found a great price for the Marriott in Kaanapali.

  • Outrigger Aina Nalu http://www.outriggerainanalucondo.com/

Haven't stayed there personally, but friends of ours did and highly rec it, they loved it.  They booked on vrbo though, got an excellent rate, so I'd search it on there.
