painted countertops

Our home has 1980's white and oak formica bath fixtures with white counter tops.  I have googled the idea of painting them to look like granite.  I know they suggest putting polyurithane (sp?) on it to protect it, but is it still easy to clean?  I usually keep clorox wipes in the bathroom for daily wipe downs and give them a good clean with something like a spic and span on the weekends.  DO you think this would mess up the finish?

I don't want to find out by trying it!  Lol!
