Probably a dumb question about the PNP/changer

I have the PNP set up in our bedroom with the bassinet feature and the changer attached.  LO will sleep in the bassinet part of the PNP in our room until we are ready to transition him to his crib.

My question is do we need to remove the changer every time we put LO in the bassinet to sleep?  It seems like it would be unsafe to leave it on because LO might get wedged or stuck under the changer?  But it also seems like a PITA to remove it every time, even though it's not that hard, so maybe I am missing something?

No flames please, I know this is dumb.  Ha!

Re: Probably a dumb question about the PNP/changer

  • I would think for a while they are small enough to fit on the other side. But I clearly don't have an outside baby yet. Thats just what I am thinking, lol. That is our plan, unless someone says otherwise, for the first month or so.

  • We have the same set up in our room and ended up just taking the changer off completely. It is easier for us to just change him on the bed. We keep a travel changing pad and a basket with diapers and wipes next to the bed for middle of the night changes.

Also, I'm not sure if your PNP has a mobile or not, but if it is one that clips on to the side of the PNP, I wanted to share that the other night, ours just popped off and fell into the PNP on its own. Thankfully, I was nursing LO in the bed, but I just wanted to throw that warning out there that it can fall off on its own. So glad LO was not asleep in there.

Yeah, I know he will fit over there for a while, but could he not move to get stuck under it?  I have a lot to learn about babies...haha!

We don't have the mobile attachment, but thanks for the heads up!  That is scary, I am so glad your LO wasn't in there!!!

I don't think so. Especially if they are swaddled. I think its really rare that they roll that early. Hopefully somebody who has an outside baby can clarify this for both of us. LOL

  • We have this set up and at first the baby is small enough that the changing table being up isn't in the way. We have the Chicco PNP and the changing table flips up and down so I can set it up with one hand while holding baby if need be

  • We have a graco PNP with the changer and bassinet and we don't take it off when we put him into it to sleep.  The changer is high enough above the bassinet that we don't see that it would be an issue for LO to get stuck/wedged under it.  Actually, the area under the changer is darker so we sometimes lay LO there since he likes to sleep where it is dark.
