Friday Friday!

Yea, it's finally here and it's finally sunny!!!

Whatcha up to this wknd?

Re: Friday Friday!

  • It's sunny and 70 here so everyone's in an awesome mood!

Tonight we're going to see a play.  It's a Peanuts/Charlie Brown play (we met at MetLife, hence our re-occuring theme/love for Snoopy, etc lol).  It was actually a LivingSocial deal that the tix were orig. $30 on sale for 2 for $15 so I bought them.  It should be fun.

Tomorrow we plan to do yard work ALL day and I can't wait!! I love getting dirty and making this beautiful.

Tomorrow night we have a Beef and Beer for my bros softball league.  That should be a lot of fun.

Sunday, just relaxing, maybe a little more work outside, depends.  Then dinner at my parents as usual.

  • Tonight: Errands after work, returning 2 things (a sale sweater from J Crew that I realized has black scuffs all over the sleeves once I got home, no wonder it was only $23 :O(, and shoes that I ordered online that are too small) and one pick-up (ugh vent: Ben got me Tiffany's silver ball earrings a few years ago and I lost one one night when we went out in Jan.  I sent in for "repair" to get a mate, and they're charging me $64 for the mate, when a new set costs $100.  Shouldn't the mate be $50??  Originally they wanted $86, which included shipping, but I called and complained and they shipped to the local store for free.  I don't want to pay $64, but they're my fav earrings and I wear almost everyday).

Then IL's are in town, we're going to dinner at a bar and after opening bday gifts (Ben's bday is next week and mine's the following so ILs are here early to celebrate).

Sat: Gym, probably some shopping (or window shopping for me) w/MIL and SIL; dinner at our fav tapas restaurant (swear, best Sangria in the city!), and bowling

Sun: Brunch and tour of Wrigley field <it's part of Ben's bday present and he has no idea  I can't wait to surprise him!!

That sounds awesome. We actually walked out of our ceremony to Linus and Lucy - people loved it.

We've got yet another low-key weekend on deck, because the next two are crazy town. Tomorrow morning, we've got a dog trainer coming to work with us and Jack. Then I'm getting my hair cut (thank god!), grabbing a Zipcar, and we're going to run some errands. Sunday will be lazy.  We're way behind on The Killing and The Borgias, and I want to catch up before we accidentally get spoiled.

  • Tonight we're just staying in.  We have 127 Hours coming from Netflix today, so I assume we'll watch that.  I might make some cookies too to take to our friends house on Saturday.

Saturday we're just being lazy all day and then heading over to our friends' house.  She's my bestfriend who is pregnant after several miscarriages, but she's actually showing now and the pregnancy is going wonderfully this time, so I bought two little baby outfits to surprise her with (I waited until she started buying stuff...just in case, ya know?).  They (her and her husband, who is also one of my bffs) are going to grill dinner, then we'll do a small firepit and sit around it drinking (not her of course) and chatting it up.  I'm super excited because I haven't seen them in like a month and a half, although we do talk every day.  She's been on moderate bed rest since she was 13 weeks pregnant, she's almost 27 weeks now, and they live about 40 minutes away, so its been hard to get together.

Then on Sunday we are doing absolutely nothing and I'm pretty excited about that.

  • Tonight: We are hoping to pick up our car that's been in the shop for 3 weeks (after an estimate of 9 hours of service!).  I figure they're taking their sweet time because it's warranty work and there's not much we can do about it.  They stopped paying for a rental after two weeks, so now we're stuck paying for that too.  In case you can't tell, I'm spitting mad.

Saturday and Sunday: We are planning to paint our bathroom and ensuite before our housewarming party next weekend.  If time permits, we'll do a bit of yard work too.

Saturday night: Going to a co-worker/friend's house to watch the UFC fight.  I <3 Georges St-Pierre.

  • Hannah - I was on a conference call with the sales team I work with in Chicago earlier and they were all making jokes about how the sun is finally out.  I told them we've had the complete opposite 3 months - I heard yesterday that it's been 93 days (a record) since we got a soaking rain in the Houston area.  It's dry and dusty and awful outside.

Xan - I am very jealous about the cookies.  I wish you were coming to visit me.  Haha!

Today I'm taking my car (back) to the dealership.  They rotated and balanced my tires three weeks ago and now it sounds like I'm driving a lifted truck because the road noise is so bad.  Hopefully I'll have it back by tomorrow (although, last time they gave me a loaner that was the model up from mine, so that was pretty nice to drive around in!  I won't complain if that happens again!).

Tomorrow Chris is playing in a golf tournament, so it's a girl's day for me.  My best friend and I are going to hang out and then meet up with the guys after.  Chris' best friend is ordering the fight, so I guess we'll be watching that tomorrow night.

Chris' birthday was this week, so we might be spending Sunday with his family to celebrate, but he hasn't decided for sure yet.

Megan - did you end up deciding on a gift?!

Yes!  He kept talking about how he needed/wanted new sunglasses, so we're (hopefully) going to go shopping tonight so he'll have them to wear for the golf tournament tomorrow.

I always hate to buy something that he says he needs, but at least then I know he wants it and will use it.  Besides, he didn't expect it, so that helped.

Aw, well that's still a good gift!

I went a little over planned budget and bought us Bulls playoff tickets last night.  Ben's a huge fan and there's a home game on his bday.  Plus my parents had emailed about ideas for what to get him, so they're going to help out a bit.  I can't wait to surprise him!

Sorry to hijack this thread, but when do you think I should tell him we're going?  morning of his bday?!  I was thinking of buying a Bulls shirt for him and putting the tickets with that.  But I'm nervous he'll try to make plans w/friends.

  • I like the shirt idea, Hannah...maybe hint that he should leave the day free? Or make up plans and and then spring the new plan on him?

We are just planning on working on our deck this weekend and running errands and relaxing. We have OOT weddings back to back the next 2 weekends so we will be prepping and resting up for those.

  • I actually get to have a semi normal weekend!!

Tonight we are going with friends on a road trip to a bar that has great food.

Tomorrow I have to work until noon and then we have a wedding to go to, pretty excited because it is a kid I went to HS with and I think there will be a lot of people that I never see there.

Sunday I am off work, YAY!! We have to go to my parents to finish cleaning out their basement for our yard sale and then hopefully just a fun day spent with Lance since we never have full days together.

    23 Weeks and Counting!

  • We are spending tonight, our six month anniversary at PROM!!!  As prom advisor I have spent 30+ hours the last three days changing our gym into an enchanted forest and the fact that I got my achy body out of bed this morning was a freaking miracle.

The last three days were a true demonstration of Murphy's Law.  The hydraulic lifts we use to decorate the ceiling stopped working.  One of them worked for part of one day, making decorating take twice as long.  The roof in the gym started leaking yesterday afternoon.  The man who delivered the inflatables for after prom was "running a little behind", he came 3 1/2 hours later than he was supposed to and 1 hour after I wanted to leave for home last night.  And throughout this whole process the parents that are supposed to be helping me have treated me horribly.  I can't wait for this all to be over.

We will be leaving our house at 2 pm to go back to the school to meet the caterers and we will leave at 5 am when after prom ends.  I will then return the next day at 11 am to make the enchanted forest a gym again.  And then I have to get up and return to work as normal on Monday.

    So tired......

  • Good luck, Christie! I know you've been stressing over this for months, so I'm glad it'll finally be over for you.
