OK guys, with my Indefinite Leave to Remain in the UK (thank goodness I got that!) and an impending redundancy... I am free to do whatever I like, work wise. And I mean anything.
So I am taking ALL suggestions. If there is a career you always wondered about or a job you always fantasised about, then I'll do my best to gain employment in that area and be the guinea pig. I promise to report back frequently (or even re-open the blog for general access) and give you the gories. Best of all, you can watch me fail miserably at a bunch of stuff I'm probably going to be hopeless at. but I don't mind. I'm not after a big salary, but I do need to pay the bills, so unfortunately volunteering is not going to work. Other than that - any suggestions welcome.
Re: Open to All Ideas - no matter how crazy!
INTERNATIONAL NESTIE LIST
These are all brilliant ideas!!
I love the theatre one - I have already investigated working in television as a researcher or a runner.
Bookshop would be fabulous! My village sooo needs one.
Keep 'em coming!
If you're in London or nearby I have a part time job you could do for a little while while you are in between jobs....
?Otherwise, I would suggest applying to work at the American embassy in London.
Or, you could do some freelance recruiting, become a fitness instructor, start a small business, become a travel agent, become a local tour guide - or even better - try to get a job as a tour leader/operator with Trafalgar or another reasonably high end tourism company - you only run tours in destination every 2 or 3 weeks, then you have 2 or 3 weeks at home. This way you get paid to travel in style - I loved it.?

Unfortunately I don't live in London and am not American (I'm Aussie).
The travel thing is a good idea... oooh - ski season in France anyone?? Been skiing since I was 7, so maybe something in that area?
Great ideas though - especially the Trafalgar one!
Coroner - yea - seriously!
Eeek - that's a weird suggestion. Have you been watching too much CSI??
This morning I have registered my interest to become long haul cabin crew for an airline...
You'll never fight w/your clients
excellent point!!!
beth has sent me an email address to submit an application to write music reviews - and I have already applied. Doesn't pay much, but hey - it's a passion thing.
I'm supposed to be in consultancy period right now and not actually working, but am getting hounded by clients left right and centre and have not had anyone to nominate my work to.
It's sooo time for a glass of wine.
lol I was looking at old posts and JUST realised who you are:)
Good luck with looking for a new job!
I love the idea of working for a travel company - then you travel AND get paid for it
