Game Ideas

I'm throwing a bridal shower on Saturday and the bride just mentioned that she'd like to play a couple games.  She's not traditional and the "normal" bridal shower games aren't her thing.
Any ideas for some fun, low key games that we could play?  It's going to be a pretty small group.. 10-15ish probably.

Re: Game Ideas

  • I'm not much for shower games, but there are a couple I have played that are less painful than others.

Have strips of paper ready for the guests as they arrive, 2 separate colors.  On one strip, guests write a common marriage problem, on the other a solution they've found.  Place the strips in 2 separate containers, and later in the shower, draw one from each.  The mixed up problems and solutions are cute.

Also, the "How well do you know the bride" questionnaires can be fun.  Each guest will fill out the questionnaire then the bride will answer the questions.  Also, be sure to have the groom fill one out prior to the shower, then read his responses right before the bride answers.  Winner can receive a prize.

    Good Luck!

This is a really cute idea!

    Anniversary
  • We played a few games at my shower that I really enjoyed. We played one similar to that Amber described. One of my BM's had asked my H some questions about me ahead of time and I had to get the correct answer or else a piece of gum went in my mouth. I did really well but still ended up with a wad of gum at the end.

The other one we played was while I was opening my gifts someone wrote down each comment I made. Then after I was finished opening the gifts, they were recited back to me. It made for a really good laugh when you string all of them together.

Played this before, except the responses were supposed to foretell what the bride will say on the wedding night.  Can be very funny, but not always a game for mixed company.  Grandma might not appreciate it. ;)

  • We played a game at a friend's shower where there was written the beginning of sentences and/or questions on "worksheets" and each person finished the sentence and/or answered the questions. Then they were collected and passed back out. Then, each person read out loud the responses on the paper. Then, everyone had to guess who wrote them. They could be true/actual advice, or something funny.

It was HILARIOUS when the bride's super southern, proper grandmother read the dirty responses that she was given haha. She took it very well though and had fun, even though she was turning red! She was a wonderful woman!

Some things on the paper were:

     Never go to bed..

     In the morning, always..

    Never tell your husband to..

To keep your husband happy, you must always..

What is the worst marriage advice you've ever received?

"I love you.. even when you're sick and look disgusting!" -Love Actually

  • Thanks for the ideas!  We just played a couple of small games and kept it low key.  It was pretty successful I think.
