Any good home businesses?

I am looking to become a consultant with some type of home business. Has anyone found any really good ones that are not really expensive to start up? I want something different... there are a lot of lia sophia jewelry and pampered chef consultants around here.

Re: Any good home businesses?

  • I love being a Mary Kay Consultant! AND... you get your products at cost! :) GL!
  • I'm an Independant Consultant with Scentsy, and I love it!  They are wickless candles, and they sell fairly easily, and parties and conventions are fun!  If you want to check learn a little more about it you can look at my website www.scentsy.com/njhollenbeck So far it has been a great experience for me.  If you have any other questions you can PM me.

  • Just make sure you do your research. Is there a need for that business? Don't just listen to the person who signs you up. Ask other people!

For instance, I signed up with Avon....it was AWFUL. My leader was beyond terrible and harassed me constantly. She told me before how I'd make soooo much money, but after I was signed, she told me that I needed to work really hard to find people, and that I better not steal other Avon rep's clients.

It was a nightmare, and I'll never do a company like that again! They'll promise you everything to sign you. Just be careful and do your research first!

  • I've had friends that have been Creative Memories or Stampin' Up representatives. Not sure how much you can make but if you like scrapbooking (and lots of people spend plenty on supplies) it could work for you.
  • I have a friend who is really successful with Tastefully Simple. I don't think it's too much to start up, maybe around $100. And you can use your host credit towards that if you have a party then sign up as a consultant. I thought about doing it, but there are already so many Tastefully Simple consultants in my area.

  • I actually do Tastefully Simple. I was looking for something to keep me busy and get me out of the house more often and I am so glad I did it. I actually make a lot of money and don't really put in a lot of hours. I was surprised at how easy it is because of all the consultant jobs people seem to have no problem spending money on food to feed their families over another pair of earrings or whatnot and waterfall is right you can use your host credits to sign up. The BEST time to sign up is January because the host incentives are 50% more in free products plus there are all sorts of incentives and one is an all inclusive trip and that starts in January as well. Check it out http://www.tastefullysimple.com/BecomeAConsultant.aspx

Let me know if you have any question or waht any more information. Good luck on your search!

  • I used to sell Mary Kay. In the end that type of work didn't suit me, but many people are very successful with it.

My advice would be to pick a product like makeup or food that is consumable and keeps customers coming back. Products like Pampered Chef are very nice, but once people buy a pan, they don't need another one. With makeup they will run out and need to reorder again every few months. It will really help keep your sales going.

  • I am an independent distributor for a company called Max International. Our products focus on anti-aging, and breakthrough glutathione products. I have really enjoyed it thus far. You buy your distribution rights for $49.

I have some friends who do Scentsy and Pampered Chef. I think the main thing is that you need to find something that you are passionate about and believe in. Otherwise, you really won't enjoy it. Good luck! :)

  • One of my friends is an Independent consultant for Arbonne.  She loves it! It is a makeup brand from Europe I think, and it is all organic, and some really great stuff.  I use it and love the product. You could check that out as well.

  • If you are still looking, I would love to talk to you about my company.  I think it might be perfect for what you are looking for in a company.  I'm partnered with the doctors who created Proactiv in their newest line of skincare treatments.  We are a ground-floor opportunity just beginning our nationwide launch and preparing for a near future global launch.  Our products are featured in the major beauty magazines and just this month our newest anti-aging product was featured on the Today Show as an Allure Magazine "must have" in 2011.  I'm sending you a PM with my email if you'd like to hear more or you can page me on the California -- Inland Empire page.
  • I have heard good things about Stella & Dot.
