Teen Mom salary??

Does this just seem so wrong to anyone else?  $280,000/year.  I really hope this is fake.

Oh, if only I were 12 years younger and a train wreck, I could make money too.

Re: Teen Mom salary??

  • Oh my!

I bet you $1 she doesn't have a dime of it left.

  • Holy shiz!!  Explains why Maci drives a $35,000 car and could afford an $800/month apartment.  How are these girls living a "hard" life?

I should really start being irreresponsible...seems like the easiest way to make money Stick out tongue

  • If she really did make that much, I'd like to know WTF she spent it on. She lives in a crap apartment, which minimal furnishings, and argues with Gary over spending $30 bucks on birthday gifts/party supplies (that rerun was just on).

This seems to pretty much confirm since they say 65,000 a season. That would be 2 seasons plus 16 and pregnant. Or they may have actually considered it 3 seasons?

The current 16 & Pregnant girls get $7000 for their episode.  I heard the teen mom girls got $65k for their 2nd season but that is still a far cry from $280k.  Perez is probably just FOS.

I think Maci's mom and dad pay for most of her stuff.  It would be easy to afford an $800 month apt w/ $250 in child support and no other bills..

  • She's also done a couple magazine covers, which she might have gotten paid for. Especially the one featuring her weight loss. It's crazy though.

No offense, but not so much.  Her car payment would be AT LEAST $550/month and $800 rent would be $1,350 a month.  You would need a gross salary of $25K just to meet those bills.  Not to mention her BB ($65/month), food, toys, diapers, etc?  I don't think that's so easy without MTV's generous salary (even 65K is pretty generous) no matter how much mommy and daddy kick in...

I think Sunshine is saying that her parents bought her the car, which is also the impression I was under.  If I'm not mistaken, she had that car (or a similarly nice car) on her episode of 16&Preg, before she would have received money from MTV.

That may be the case, but even still, $250/week for child support is still only $1000/month. Without that $65k a season (and her parents' help), there's no way she'd be able to pay $800 for rent and still feed herself and her son.

I thought the purpose of the show was to show that being a teen mom was difficult. Maci's situation (expensive car, her own apartment, still able to go to school) doesn't show how difficult it is for the average young, single mom.

Also, what does Ryan do that he's making $500+ a week?

  • So financially it makes more sense to get knocked up at 16 and be an AW on MTV instead of spending 5 years in college and teaching today's youth. Nice.
