Recommend a non popular move

Recommend your favorite non popular, cult following movies. Ones many have not heard of but are fantastic!

City of Ember - such a good movie! I saw a preview of it and threw it on netflix. It is one of those that many have not heard of but such a good movie!  It is about this town that is illuminated by artificial light. And what happens when the town generator begins to fail. Such an awesome movie. It is on my list to eventually get. Tim Robbins, Bill Murray

Stardust - Such a big name cast, but not heard of by many people. About this magical town in England, and a star falls to it.. About witches, princes, and regular people trying to find the star. Love this movie. It finally came out in blue ray and I got it for both of us for christmas. We love this movie. Claire Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert De Niro, Ian McKellen

Re: Recommend a non popular move

  • You Can Count on Me - first thing I saw Mark Ruffalo in and still love him.  Laura Linney stars too and also love her.
  • Manchurian Candidate - old black and white or newer version.  Angela Landsbury (Murder She Wrote and Ms. Potts in Beauty and the Beat) plays a not so good person in the original black and white and it is interesting to see her in that type of role.  Liev Schriber does a good job in the newer version.  It's a political thriller.

More recent - Sunshine Cleaning.  I thought it was cute.  Amy Adams character is a single mom who starts a bio-hazard cleaning business to support her son.

  • I loved Sunshine Cleaning and it reminds me of another one of my all-time favorite movies, Little Miss Sunshine. If you're a fan of the whole Jay and Silent Bob thing, I thought Clerks II was hillarious.

I had to watch Manchurian Candidate in one of my high school English classes. I never would have chosen something like this on my own, so I'm glad that I was "forced" to watch it. It was a really good movie; as was 1984 (another that I had to watch in AP English).
