Juggling family for the holidays

My H and I just got married in August.  The two of  us are a military family awaiting orders for TBS so we know for sure this is our last Christmas home for the holidays (while living at home).  H thinks since it is our first Christmas as husband and wife that we should relax and enjoy it just the two of us- but we have family members (who also know about "the last Christmas") and expect us to be everywhere with them.  I want to see some family but enjoy alone time with my new hubby too.

Any suggestions for a peacefull and relaxing holiday?

Re: Juggling family for the holidays

  • How do you feel about it?

Last Christmas was our first married Christmas, and while we would have loved to relax and lounge around we knew there was no chance of that. We have 4 or 5 places to go to in 2 days (Christmas Eve and Day). I kind of feel guilted into going to all these because they are more than likely getting us gifts and cooking for us. I can't wait till the day when people have to travel to see me at the holidays!

  • This is also our first married Christmas, but like kaley we have 4 places to go between Christmas Eve and Day. Could you go see your families on Christmas Eve and early Christmas Day, then spend all that afternoon and evening together? That's what we're planning on doing.

I can see how this would be a hard decision since its your last Christmas at home for a while. Do what feels right for you though, don't let anyone push you into doing something you don't want to.
