Daily Water Consumption

If you drink regular tea (black, green, oolong, etc.) without sugars/sugar substitute, do you count that towards your water consumption for the day?

  • I probably shouldn't, but yes.

  • Yes, anything made with water, of course, counts.  Why wouldn't it?
  • depends, if I HAVE to have a certain amt of water (like the Dr ordered me too) then yes I would...but normally I usually don't count things that are made with water.  I just count straight up water.
  • I count anything that doesn't have caffeine or calories as water.  I drink about 3L of double-diluted Crystal Lite everyday and almost no plain water.  I still consider myself hydrated!

Because anything made with caffeine is a diuretic and can dehydrate you to some extent.

I count anything that doesn't have caffeine towards my daily water intake.  Don't forget fruits and veggies have lots of water in them too :)

At best, caffeine is a mild diuretic.  The amount that is eliminated as a result of caffeine consumption is minimal so any drinks that contain caffeine can count as water.  I am well aware that fruits and veggies can count too, since most are at least 80% water.  You can count however you want, but science is science.

If it's liquid, it counts as water.

Except for alcohol (ethanol), but some days a big, tall Drinks is great :)
