Diva cup day 1!

I'm excited, this is my first day using the diva cup. I tried it last night knowing AF was coming this week and got it stuck because I pushed it in too far Embarrassed, which was a terrible experience. BF had to help me get it out! I tried again last night and had much more success and now it's in for the day since AF came this morning!

What a terribly embarrassing first experience though!

Re: Diva cup day 1!

  • Good luck! Remember: it's not a tampon. Further in isn't better. I had to cut the stem off mine because otherwise it poked me on the outside.

  • Heh.  I had a brief moment of panic the first time I put mine in too.  If that happens again, if you squat down and then bear down, it should come back within reach.  It takes a little practice, but you'll get it! :-)

  • first day for me too... not sure how i feel about it.  i can still feel it and it's annoying.  maybe i need to trim the stem a bit more but then im worried i wont be able to remove it.

  • The stem really isn't necessary to remove it. If it bugs you, get rid of it.

I promise - it can't get lost in there. Squat (preferably in the shower) and it shall appear.

  • So far so good, I'm loving it!
  • I agree that you do not really need the stem to remove it.

This was me when I first used it. That was a few years ago. I cut the stem and that helped. Now I have no problems. As previously mentioned, it is pretty easy to get out if you squat and push.

I concur.  I cut mine pretty much all the way off.  Little piece of advice, use a knife, not scissors.  Scissors compress the stem leading to an uneven cut which bothered me.

For removal, **TMI*** squat and bear down like you're having a bowel movement, and it will come within reach.  Use your thumb and index finger to pinch the bottom of the cup, that breaks the seal.  Then slowly pull down and out.

Agree with PP, it's not a tampon, higher is not better.  It's designed to sit at the opening of your vagina, not way up towards the small of your back like a tampon.  If you've cut the stem, and it's inside your body and popped open, then you're good.  I usually give mine a gentle tug to make sure I have a good seal.  HTH!
