My trip report from Bologna in Italy

Hi all

My wife and I went to Bologna, Italy this summer (in July). We first spent a few days in the city itself and stayed at Hotel Touring in the city center. After that we changed hotel to Savhotel located just a bit out of the city center and we rented a car and we had some roadtrips to places like Ferrara, Ravenna and Modena. I have now posted the trip report with photos, videos, maps etc on this page . I hope that it can be of some use to others that are going to Bologna.

If you want to have an idea about eating out in Bologna you can also check out this section of the trip report . As you will see, there are lots of good restaurant and LOTS of good food to be eaten in this city. I have also made this interactive Google map that shows the location of the restaurants and attractions that we went to: . Well, there it is...hope that you guys will enjoy it  As always, let me know if you see something that needs to be corrected or fixed in the trip report Wink

  • Thanks, we're thinking of doing an overnight in Bologna for our trip in March.
  • I'm sorry you didn't get much out of Modena! :(  If I had known you were planning to go on a Monday, I would have warned you out.  Typically in Modena, Sunday, Monday, and Thursdays are days that are kind of.... Well, tricky, to say the least.  And, after living in Modena for nearly 3 years, I've never seen the bell tower either.  It was covered shortly before we arrived.  I hope you had occasion to go inside though.  There are some funny stories in regards to the missing decorations on the walls.  It was a "restoration" done during the Renaissance where they were *sure* that the art on the walls wasn't original as the people who built it, couldn't have been artists! ;)
