Anyone hike in LA?

I'm trying to keep us active after the honeymoon. Does anyone know of great trails in LA - area? I think we've been on one in Malibu.

 Thank you for the help!

Re: Anyone hike in LA?

  • Hi there-

I haven't done too many but the Grotto hike in Malibu was pretty sweet! Definitely have to jump in the water and play around in the cave at the end of it! http://www.localhikes.com/Hikes/Grotto_4472.asp

We also did another one in north Pasadena/Alta Dena called Hermit Falls but it was awhile ago and i can't remember the actual name of the park :-/ it was cool, though! Good place for cliff jumping if you're so inclined! (I was WAY too chicken and the water was freezing but lots of other people to watch). Good luck, have fun!!!

  • A friend of mine loves to hike at Griffith Park. DH & I are new to the area (but like to hike) and I found this link you may find helpful

What part of town are you in?

  • I love hiking tree people park at Mulholland and coldwater and we often hike runyon canyon, but it has been really crowded recently.
  • Maybe we could have a Nest meet up at one of the trails? One in Santa Monica has a little waterfall!
  • Malibu:

Escondido Canyon - has a waterfall and another level of upper falls

Theres another small quick hike with great ocean views right next to a seafood shack - Corral Canyon I think is the name

Arroyo Sequit - more secluded and less crowded

    Malibu Creek State Park

    Temescal Canyon

Topanga State Park is suppose to be beautiful

    Culver City:

Baldwin Park - basically a bunch of stairs but has a great view at the top

    West Hollywood:

Runyon Canyon (has a great view but personally not my cup of tea - usually too crowded)

    Griffith Park

    Northeast of LA:

Angeles Forest - so many trails like Switzer Falls
