runners... shorts question

Do any of you wear the spandex-type shorts to run in?  I'm tired of pulling down the legs of my shorts as my jumbo thighs rub together and the legs creep up.  Also, I was one scary mess last night, the khaki colored shorts I was wearing show sweat off quite a bit and it looked like I peed myself from the front view.  I'm pretty cheap, but I'm thinking I could probably buy one good pair of running shorts.  Suggestions?

Re: runners... shorts question

  • I have a pair of Reebok shorts that I love... I wear them running but also wear them on the weekends a lot, they are really comfortable.  I also like Nike Tempo running shorts, they have them at Sports Authority I think and they are $20-30, so not too $$$ but really comfortable.
  • I have some from Target that I really love actually... I have 2 pairs of a slicker fabric that have like a track short in them? They rock and don't ride up. And I have a pair of longer like bermuda length that were tighter probably have some spandex in them...

  • I haven't found any that I am not constantly tugging down yet either. I have a pair of Nike dri-fit w/a built in compression short but I still have to yank those down. I have been sticking to the longer capri style bottoms or knee length compression training shorts (adidas and nike) and have great success with that.
  • I ONLY wear spandexy/dry fit shorts to run in now. Kohl's carries FILA and they have some great shorts that hit right above the knee that I love. I loved them so much that I bought them three times within a month. I also just purchased a pair of Nike shorts that are working well. And I did find a pair at Target a few months ago that are pretty good.

Basically if the shorts have any swing to them, they are going to ride up when I'm running ... well unless they were uber long. I'd love to be able to wear the typical runners shorts, but that's not going to happen with these thighs (I thank my Mexican genes for this!).

  • I wear the spandex shorty shorts to race, but it's mostly mesh during the week. I know people swear by Nike tempo though. They look terrible on me, but the colors are adorable!
