As a result of these updates, members of the Nest Community will need to change their password in order to continue participating in the community. In addition, The Nest community member's avatars will be replaced with generic default avatars. If you wish to revert to your original avatar, you will need to re-upload it via The Nest.

  • Like the article says, it was just collecting info that was already public.

    I have my profile set to the highest privacy settings and I have little-to-no real information about myself on there.

    I use it to share photos and send private messages/e-mails -- I don't write on walls or play games.

    I think the people who over-share kind of get what they have coming to them.

    Same thing goes for some of the super personal stuff that people post on these boards.... you never know who is looking at what you write...

    Agreed but at the same time Facebook didn't notify the users that it was going to do this.  I think a fair 7 day warning should have been given.  They invite people to put as much information as possible up on their individual profiles but nowhere does it warn that the information will be shared with third party without prior permission.  I think they're trying to justify it by saying they're not charging for the information file.
