if you have 36 hours where will go in Colorado?

....DH and I just decided to take a long weekend next week and badly need a getaway cause we are really swamped with work but we need to be back by Saturday cause one of our closest friends is celebrating her bday.

Where would you go? and what would you do? TIA!!!!

Re: if you have 36 hours where will go in Colorado?

  • I'd probably go to a really nice hotel downtown and live it up.  I'm not a big fan of road trips and especially if I don't get to spend enough time some place.
  • What about going to Blackhawk or Central City?  I've never been but think it would be fun to get a hotel for a night and check out all the casinos and restaurants.  The Ameristar Hotel & Casino looks really nice and I think it would be a fun, short getaway.

  • We'd probably head up to the mountains somewhere close-ish.  Breckenridge, Grand Lake, or Steamboat are close, but can feel like you're really getting away if you plan a couple activities or make nice dinner reservations.

If you're up for a longer drive, we love Pagosa Springs in the SW part of the state.
