what did you do for your first anniversary?
I'm making DH a photobook on shutterfly with pics of our destination wedding. Just curious what other couples have done or will do...

We just had our first anniversary yesterday!
My husband worked
I brought him lunch
We took a walk on the beach
Went out to eat chinese food
And then we celebrated in the bedroom
Nothing extensive or expensive. It was a nice day. My husband said it had been a really good year and I teared up a little bit.
We just had our first anniversary yesterday too!
We didn't do a whole lot. I spent a few weeks on and off beforehand making him a "Jar of Love"... a glass jar full of 365 pieces of paper, each with a reason why I love him or things to do together. A little corny, but it was paper, so it fit with the whole "Paper Anniversary" thing. He thought it was really neat. He got me a kid's video game that I've been wanting for a while. It was cute.
We were gonna go out to a nice place for dinner, but it was full, so we're going tonight instead.
i really love your 365 pieces of paper idea! i just might do that! i'm lost on what to do..our 1 yr is next month and my mind is frazzled!
One more whose first anniversary was yesterday.
We went out for a nice splurge-y dinner and spent the rest of the evening together at home just being mushy. We looked into a vacation, but the timing was bad, and we're already going on a long trip together in a couple of months so that wasn't a big deal.
To OP, don't worry about going all out if that's not your (singular and plural) style. Seriously, stick with something that fits you and your marriage.

Our anniversary was yesterday as well!!
I went to work; he stayed home & tidied up a bit. I came home to beautiful flowers, candles, and card. We went to the beach for a bit then out to dinner and drinks at a very swanky resort (perks on living in Miami Beach!). We had saved our cake but it was terrible (freezer burn), my boss had given me chocolate covered strawberries...that went bad, and the champagne was bitter and gross. After we laughed for a bit, I made slice n bake cookies & milk and we watched Nurse Jackie/US of Tara. Then retired for some anni nooky. All in all it went pretty well!!

Our actual anniversary day we went to church, then to a nice lunch. Then we just hung out at the house for the rest of the day. I had a replica cake topper made, and we had that for dessert. (we had a bite of our original cake for tradition). For our "gift" we had a map framed that we had brought back from our honeymoon. It is now hanging in our dining room. We left the next day for a 3 day trip to the hill country.
We photographed a wedding. For 12 hours. And they were out of food by the time we were at a break in the reception, so I was sick by the time we were done pretty much.
Personal life milestones win over business from here on out haha. And totally making up for it this year!
1st anniversary is paper....my friends have done (and I plan on doing) a boudoir photoshoot and giving him an album. We have a couple of great places here that do your hair, makeup, pick out flattering outfits/poses and of course, as much wine as one would need to let loose a bit!
One is more of a 1950's pinup place, but the other you bring your own outfits. Before I totally give the wrong impression...my friends who have gone have worn their husband's oversized dress shirt with heels, some of their wedding trousseau, etc.
