Wedding Rec's

My SIL has asked me to help her search for a wedding location.  She is open to lots of ideas, but says that in her head she pictures a big white tent with lots of white lights in the trees, very romantic.  She wants outdoors and it will be for a spring wedding.  She is still trying to narrow it down some, but is open to either garden, pond, oceanview etc.

I thought I would get some rec's from you ladies and see if anything tickles her fancy.  Smile   TIA!!!

Re: Wedding Rec's

  • Does she have a budget or approximate # of people in mind? Any particular part of Northern California?

She is thinking between 60-100 people and is pretty flexible as to location since most all of the family will have to travel to nor cal anyways.  She hasnt really set a budget.  I think she is more interested in getting an idea of whats out there and what costs are going to range before committing to her budget.

  • She could check out my venue - Nestldown in Los Gatos. It's pricey and books up well in advance, but really beautiful and can definitely accommodate the big white tent/outdoorsy idea she's got in mind. She might also check out the Holly Farm in Carmel Valley, Dunsmuir Estate in Oakland, and Wildwood Acres in Lafayette. Might be helpful for her to start her search with herecomestheguide.com.
  • We got married at this place in Boulder Creek.

i have no idea what it's like as a venue (what with getting married in pennsylvania and all), but i've always thought buena vista winery in sonoma is just beautiful - and they do rent out for weddings.

  • Big white tent makes me think of:

    Viansa

    Cornerstone Gardens

BR Cohn (I think you could set up a tent there)

Chateau Felice (Haven't seen this place in person)

There are others, take a look in my bio inder "helpfull odds 'n ends" there is a list of venues in the north bay area.

Althought there is no tent at these sites, if she can affoard it, I HIGHLY reccommend:

Beaulieu Vineyards or Kunde Family Estate Winery. They are both SUPER romantic sites.

  • No white tents, but lots of white lights in the trees...Los Altos History Museum in Los Altos.
  • There's always the outside part of Lockford Springs Golf Course, or the Stockton Golf Course.

Then there is the Tea Garden at Micky Grove as well as the River Mill, but I am guessing you know all of these.
