ACL and Meniscus slight tear

My son hurt his leg in PT and had to have an x-ray which showed water on the knee.  The resulting MRI shows what the doctor calls a slight tear in the ACL and another slight tear in the meniscus.

Has anyone every dealt with both at once?  He's already torn the meniscus in the other knee and had surgery/rehab, etc.  Just wondering if anyone has any experiences with this.

We see an orthopedist in a few weeks to discuss.  And as a mom I'm worried!  My poor baby (well he's 20 so he's not technically a baby...)

Re: ACL and Meniscus slight tear

  • I have had this problem before.....what do you need to know about it? That seems like a long time to wait to go into the doctor....I would go in immediately. If both truly are torn or strained, that can be very serious. He really needs to stay off of it if he can. You don't want him to hurt his other knee again while he is compensating for the newly injured one.
