Why is my thumb numb?

I went to sewing class today, and the heavy labor on my thumb has really taken a toll apparently.  My thumb was tingly numbish from all the heavy cutting of fabric and still isn't back to normal hours later.  Isn't that weird?  Do I need to have this checked out right away?  It feels better than it did, but it's starting to freak me out!

Re: Why is my thumb numb?

  • I wouldn't worry too much just yet.  My DH had a thumb that went numb after cleaning our carpet.  It lasted for two days and then was fine.
  • Ibuprofen and ice, there is swelling going on and these two things will take the pressure off of the nerve causing the numbness.
