high end lighting store?

Hi ladies,

My MIL is in town and wants to check out some fancy home furnishing stores in MoCo.  Anyone have any suggestions?  I usually just go to el cheapo places.  TIA!

Re: high end lighting store?

  • DH recommends hitting some supply houses that have showrooms.  Capital won't be open on the weekend and their showrooms aren't that great.  He says Rexel usually has a good, high end show room and should be open on Saturday.  I'd call first to make sure they have a showroom and are open, here are the MD locations.  If you want to drive, Lamplighter in Alexandria is really good.  FWIW, we usually get our high end stuff from Capitol Lighting (which is different than the local supply house, Capital).  Sometimes we shop around the local places, but lately DH's contractor discount hasn't been any better than Capitol Lighting.
These are a few of my favorite things

  • I'm not sure about just lighting, but she'd probably have a field day on West Howard Ave. in Kensington. A mix of antique dealers and high end home furnishings of all kinds.
