dessert

Hi ladies, I know I don't post much but I do read alot of your post. I have seen alot of good desserts that you ladies have made, and was wondering if you would like to help me. I am going to my aunts on Sunday for dinner and I would like to bring a nice dessert. So please toss some good recipes at me.

Thanks

  • I made this cake last weekend, it was wonderful!

    Chocolate Banana Cream Cake Recipe

    Ingredients

    • 1/2 cup butter, softened
    • 1-1/4 cups sugar
    • 2 eggs, separated
    • 1-1/2 cups mashed ripe bananas (about 3 medium)
    • 1/4 cup sour cream
    • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
    • 1-1/2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 teaspoon baking soda
    • 1/4 teaspoon salt

    • FILLING/FROSTING:
    • 1-1/2 cups cold whole milk
    • 1 package (3.4 ounces) instant banana cream pudding mix
    • 1 can (16 ounces) chocolate frosting
    • 2 medium firm bananas, sliced
    • 3 tablespoons lemon juice

    Directions

    • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add egg yolks; mix well. Beat in the bananas, sour cream and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; add to the creamed mixture and beat well.
    • In a small bowl, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Fold into batter. Transfer to two greased and floured 9-in. round baking pans. Bake at 350? for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out clean. Cool for 10 minutes before removing from pans to wire racks to cool completely.
    • For filling, in a small bowl, whisk milk and pudding mix for 2 minutes. Let stand for 2 minutes or until soft-set. Cover and refrigerate until chilled.
    • In a small bowl, beat frosting until light and fluffy. Place bananas in a small bowl; toss with lemon juice.
    • Place one cake layer on a serving plate; spread with 3 tablespoons frosting. Stir pudding; spread half over the frosting. Top with half of the bananas and the remaining cake layer. Repeat frosting, filling and banana layers. Frost sides and decorate top edge of cake with remaining frosting. Store in the refrigerator. Yield: 12 servings.

  • Colin rather enjoyed an orange creamsicle cake I made for a school luncheon a while back...

Cake mix of your choice: Orange Cake Mix (works the best, I think Betty Crocker or Duncan Hines makes it); Yellow Cake Mix, White Cake Mix, French Vanilla cake mix

2 small boxes of orange jello

1 box of French vanilla instant jello pudding mix

1 8 oz. container of Cool Whip

    1 Cup of Milk

1 Cup of boiling hot water

    Directions

Prepare cake mix as directed on the package, cool cake completely.

Boil water and blend with one box of orange flavored jello, mix until dissolved.

Poke holes in cake with fork or similar tool (go crazy - more holes = more marbled orange-y goodness); pour jello mixture over the cake, place in refrigerator for about an hour

While cake is cooling, mix one cup of milk with the instant French vanilla pudding, blend in one box of dry orange jello mix, blend this mixture into the cool whip

Frost the cake with the Cool Whip mixture - serve or refrigerate until ready to serve

    Keep any left overs refrigerated

    Enjoy!

That's exactly what its like, the cake part is basically banana bread. It was amazing and everyone loved it! I'll make it again for sure.

Then I both love you and don't love you for posting this. I love you because I LOVE banana bread and can eat a whole loaf in one sitting. I don't love you because eating a whole cake in one sitting is not a good idea.
