I've had one of those weeks were things keep going from crappy to crappier - I need some sunshine in my day.  Its been a while since we've done a good old poll.

 1.  What every day item can you absolutely not live without?

2.  How long do you spend in the shower every day?  Does your DH take longer?

3.  Name one thing that you're looking forward to the most about Easter (or spring for those who don't celebrate Easter)?

4.  What is your most recent read?  Would you recommend it?

5.  Favorite Comfort Food?

6. What is your favorite footwear?

7.  Do you have a signature accessory?  What is it and why do you like it?

Re: Thursday Poll

  • I've had one of those weeks were things keep going from crappy to crappier - I need some sunshine in my day.  Its been a while since we've done a good old poll.

     1.  What every day item can you absolutely not live without?  My Lubriderm (no not lube) Sensitive Skin Lotion...and chapstick!

    2.  How long do you spend in the shower every day?  Does your DH take longer?  I spend about 15 minutes.  My DH spends about 30....what are you doing in there?!?!?

    3.  Name one thing that you're looking forward to the most about Easter (or spring for those who don't celebrate Easter)? Planting our veggie/flower gardens!  SO excited!

    4.  What is your most recent read?  Would you recommend it?  I am currently reading Danielle Steel- Jewels.  Yes I would recommend it.

    5.  Favorite Comfort Food? Mashed Potatoes with brown gravy

    6. What is your favorite footwear?  My gray Uggs and my candy apple Antonio Melani heels.

    7.  Do you have a signature accessory?  What is it and why do you like it?  I usually always wear a "chunky" bracelet because I love blingy and vintage antique anything.  And my wedding ring!  Which looks very "old world" and antique...that's how I roll....

  • Whoops!  I didn't mean to repost your words....the whole cut and paste thing....  Big Smile
  • 1.  What every day item can you absolutely not live without?

My Neutragena oil free sensitive skin facial moisturizer.  I hate washing my face, and feeling it begin to dry out between the time I dry it off and put the moisturizer on.  Drives me nuts.

    2.  How long do you spend in the shower every day?  Does your DH take longer?

I spend 5-10 minutes, depending on if it's a shave day.  My husband - WHO IS BALD - spends about twice that.  I don't get it.

    3.  Name one thing that you're looking forward to the most about Easter (or spring for those who don't celebrate Easter)?

I've always been a fan of Easter church services.  Usually very happy services.  Outside of church, I'm looking forward to magnolia trees... they bloom around Easter.

    4.  What is your most recent read?  Would you recommend it?

New Directions for Student Services,  no 102, Summer 2003.... and only if you're into that kind of thing.

    5.  Favorite Comfort Food?

    Kraft macaroni and cheese.

    6. What is your favorite footwear?

I really like my hiking boots.  Way comfy.  Good support.

    7.  Do you have a signature accessory?  What is it and why do you like it?

I don't have nearly enough style for that.  My signature accessory is usually recycling the necklace I had on the day before.
  •  1.  What every day item can you absolutely not live without?

My Olay dual-action face wash.  I use it twice a day--my face gets really oily and I can't stand it.

    2.  How long do you spend in the shower every day?  Does your DH take longer?

5-10 minutes, DH is a little less, unless it's a shave day for either.  DH likes to shave in the shower (we put a little mirror in there) and it takes him a lot longer.

    3.  Name one thing that you're looking forward to the most about Easter (or spring for those who don't celebrate Easter)?

Besides Easter service, since it's so joyful and they usually have trumpets, I really love the tulips.  They bloom around that time and they're so cheerful!

    4.  What is your most recent read?  Would you recommend it?

Oh, I think the last book I finished was probably a knitting book, like about the properties of various wool.  So, no, I would not recommend it to you guys, lol.

    5.  Favorite Comfort Food?

    Cookies.  Any kind.

    6. What is your favorite footwear?

In the wintertime, I love my snow boots, but I really want to break out my cute little flats again.

    7.  Do you have a signature accessory?  What is it and why do you like it?

I guess the closest thing to that is a lacy scarf that I wear all the time.  I made it out of alpaca fiber for the wedding and have been wearing it almost non-stop since then.

I've had one of those weeks were things keep going from crappy to crappier - I need some sunshine in my day.  Its been a while since we've done a good old poll.

     1.  What every day item can you absolutely not live without?

    2.  How long do you spend in the shower every day?  Does your DH take longer? 10 minutes or so? Sometimes DH takes longer, sometimes I feel like he's never in there at all. So I joke with him and ask him if he used soap.

    3.  Name one thing that you're looking forward to the most about Easter (or spring for those who don't celebrate Easter)? I don't know if I really look forward to anything on Easter... but I'm excited for spring because it's BEAUTIFUL in atlanta!

    4.  What is your most recent read?  Would you recommend it? Microtrends by Mark Penn. I loved it. It's kind of a freakonomics type read, where it talks about subgroups of people and how they influence the larger population. Very interesting read.

    5.  Favorite Comfort Food? Anything chinese. I've on this mochi kick. For those who don't know what I'm talking about, you are missing out!

    6. What is your favorite footwear? Normally, I'm a heels girl, but since I'm on my feet most of the day, I wear my ugg boots or moccasins to work. Or birkenstock clogs.

    7.  Do you have a signature accessory?  What is it and why do you like it? I have a pair of diamond hoop earrings that DH got for me. I barely ever take them off!

  • 1.  What every day item can you absolutely not live without?  Mascara -- I feel naked without it.

    2.  How long do you spend in the shower every day?  Does your DH take longer?  I spend about 10 minutes.  He usually takes 10-15.

    3.  Name one thing that you're looking forward to the most about Easter (or spring for those who don't celebrate Easter)?  As a Christian, I love what Easter is about.  I honestly don't really care for our Easter services at churech (too cheesy), but it's an amazing day for me because of the meaning behind it that gives so much meaning to my life.  We also leave for a week long service project with our high schoolers the day after Easter so that is always something I look forward to.

    4.  What is your most recent read?  Would you recommend it?  I'm reading a book called Beyond Suffering by Layton Talber.  It's about the book of Job in the Bible and yes, I would recommend it.

    5.  Favorite Comfort Food?  Fudgey brownies (it's not even 7:30am and I want one already)

    6. What is your favorite footwear?  Reef Flip Flops

    7.  Do you have a signature accessory?  What is it and why do you like it?  The only accessories I always wear are my wedding ring, a one year anniversary ring from DH, and a thumb ring my brother made me in high school jewelry class... 11 years ago!

  • Yay for Reefs!  I got my first pair in HS (my friend from FL sent me them) and I wore them for YEARS...like 7 years and then my dog chewed them up....I cried....seriously....Reefs are the bomb.

  • Oh, and give me another month or two and Reefs will be my must have every day item!  Smile
  • 1.  What every day item can you absolutely not live without?

Korres yoghurt moisturizer! It is a gift from the gods for my oily but dehydrated skin.

    2.  How long do you spend in the shower every day?  Does your DH take longer?

10 minutes max. DH takes longer for sure...usually 15-20 minutes, although we put a clock in the shower and he is getting better.

    3.  Name one thing that you're looking forward to the most about Easter (or spring for those who don't celebrate Easter)?

    Cadbury Creme Eggs.

    4.  What is your most recent read?  Would you recommend it?

Just finished Anthem by Ayn Rand. It was good, very 1984ish. And at like, 105 pages a quick read! (I'll be blogging about it shortly, just haven't had time!)

    5.  Favorite Comfort Food?

Depends on my mood...usually baked goods.

    6. What is your favorite footwear?

Mash up between my havianas and my uggs. Uggs are so ugly but they make my feet feel so good!

    7.  Do you have a signature accessory?  What is it and why do you like it?

Hmm...I wear my Tiffany's 1837 interlocking circles ring that DH got me for our last un-married Christmas every day. (I actually didn't know what it was called, I just had to go look it up :)). I love what it symbolizes and it goes with everything!

  • I'll play!

    1.  What every day item can you absolutely not live without?  Burt's Bees minty beeswax lip balm

    2.  How long do you spend in the shower every day?  Does your DH take longer?  About 10 minutes...I try to shoot for less but the hot water feels so much better than cold air.

    3.  Name one thing that you're looking forward to the most about Easter (or spring for those who don't celebrate Easter)?  Thunderstorms!

    4.  What is your most recent read?  Would you recommend it?  Other than school texts I can't remember :(

    5.  Favorite Comfort Food?  Chilaquiles

    6. What is your favorite footwear?  Flip-flops

    7.  Do you have a signature accessory?  What is it and why do you like it?  Once upon a time, I always wore my Radiohead Subterranean Homesick Alien Pin (He was crying and looked way cute)...now I don't do anything.  I was going to wear the pin the other day but it's MIA!

    Carmax mint chapstick!

    2.  How long do you spend in the shower every day?  Does your DH take longer?

    Getting together with family

    4.  What is your most recent read?  Would you recommend it?

I am reading Dead and Gone, by Charlaine Harris.  It is the 8th book of the Sookie Stackhouse novels, which True Blood is (loosely) based on.  I love these books, and have read to this point in only the past couple months.  And yes I'd recommend them all.

    5.  Favorite Comfort Food?

    Pizza probably!

    6. What is your favorite footwear?

Now my Uggs, but in the summer my Target flip flops for sure!

    7.  Do you have a signature accessory?  What is it and why do you like it?

I'm not much of an accessory wearer.  I love wearing baseball hats though & wish I could everyday!

    5.  Favorite Comfort Food?  Chilaquiles

Ooh... I always wondered how you spell that!  Yum!

  • I suppose I should participate!

    1.  What every day item can you absolutely not live without?  These days - a hair clip.  I haven't cut my hair in... a year!  It is longer than I've had it since middle school.

    2.  How long do you spend in the shower every day?  Does your DH take longer?  I'm usually a good solid 10-15 minuter because the heat isn't full blast in the house until just after I wake up usually and I like being warm.

    3.  Name one thing that you're looking forward to the most about Easter (or spring for those who don't celebrate Easter)? Easter ham - oh how I love Easter Ham.

    4.  What is your most recent read?  Would you recommend it?  I'm nearly done with Barbara Kingsolver's Lacuna.  It was slow to start but I'm liking it now.

    5.  Favorite Comfort Food?  If Hubby is traveling - baked mac and Cheese. If hubby is around -Pizza.  (he doesn't like homemade mac and cheese.  I know, so sad!)

    6. What is your favorite footwear?  Lately my uggs!  And I also love my croc flip flops.

    7.  Do you have a signature accessory?  What is it and why do you like it?  I almost always wear a birthstone ring my parents got me for my confirmation.  I love it because it is unique and obviously sentimentally important to me.

  • 1. What every day item can you absolutely not live without?
    Chapstick! I am seriously addicted.

    2. How long do you spend in the shower every day? Does your DH take longer?
During the week, I'm in and out in 5-10 minutes. On the weekends I take a little longer to do all the exfoliating and deep condition, etc- probably 20. No, DH's are really fast- around 5 minutes.

    3. Name one thing that you're looking forward to the most about Easter (or spring for those who don't celebrate Easter)? Cadbury creme eggs. I've already seen them in the stores!

    4. What is your most recent read? Would you recommend it? Jhumpa Lahiri's Unaccustomed Earth. For the most part, yes. It's a series of short stories- and the characters' situations are kind of similar throughout, but she is an amazing storyteller.

    5. Favorite Comfort Food? My mom's homemade mac and cheese. I need to get the recipe.

    6. What is your favorite footwear? Right now, my uggs. They are so ugly, but so warm and comfy.

    7. Do you have a signature accessory? What is it and why do you like it? Not really... I wore the Tiffany's heart necklace that DH (then BF) got me for my birthday for a long time, and then the chain kept breaking so I stopped.

  • 1.  What every day item can you absolutely not live without?  I have 2 - chapstick and my contacts.

    2.  How long do you spend in the shower every day?  I guess I'm a dirty kid, but I don't shower every day.  My hair gets weird if I do. :(  Anyway, when I do, I shower for about 20 min.  Does your DH take longer?  No, but it might be close.  He shaves his face in the shower, so it take him a while too.

    3.  Name one thing that you're looking forward to the most about Easter (or spring for those who don't celebrate Easter)? The candy!  I love Cadbury eggs, Cadbury Mini Eggs (no not the small version of the Cadbury eggs, they look like bird eggs with a candy shell and all chocolate inside - a bright purple bag - buy them!), Reese's Eggs, and SweetTarts Chicks, Ducks, and Bunnies.  Best candy of the year!

    4.  What is your most recent read?  Would you recommend it?  Yea, I don't really read books often.  I only read on airplanes and the last trip I took was our honeymoon.  I read "Love, Lucy," the autobiography of Lucille Ball and "The Art of Racing in the Rain."  I enjoyed Lucy a lot, but I love her shows and I just like biographies of comedians (those are about 5 of the last 7 books I've read).  "Racing" was good because it was told in the perspective of the family dog, which I loved, but the story itself was kind of stupid.

    5.  Favorite Comfort Food? Pasta.

    6. What is your favorite footwear? Flip Flops!

    7.  Do you have a signature accessory?  What is it and why do you like it?  Does my e-ring/wedding band count?  That's the only jewelery/accessory I ever wear.

    3. Name one thing that you're looking forward to the most about Easter (or spring for those who don't celebrate Easter)?

My sister and 3 nephews are coming home to visit for a few weeks!

    Chilaquiles

Kate: Not really.  The thing is, when made at home, they're made with whatever you have on hand--eggs, beans, salsa, last night's meat.  Restaurants that serve it have a standard they follow.  Here are a couple of easy one's without salsa.

    Egg Chilaquiles:

Ripe 2-3 small corn tortillas into triangles. Add a small amount of oil to a hot skillet, toss in the triangles and fried until slightly crispy (but mainly soft).  Once triangles are ready, add two eggs and scramble in the pan with the triangles.  Once eggs are cooked through: the end :)

You can do mashed beans unstead of eggs, but the beans must be mashed first.

If you want to do salsa, the trick is to use stale corn chips.  Place them in a baking dish and cover every exposed surface area with salsa.  You need more salsa than just enough to cover, but you don't want your chips swimming.  Bake them on 350 or so until the chips are soft.  Top with queso fresco, anejo, or shredded oaxaca.  Also: not jar salsa, but a good enchilada salsa!
