Black and white

Is anyone else anti-color when it comes to clothes? I'm looking at the JCrew sale stuff right now and all I ever want to buy is black and white! I desperately need some color in my wardrobe since 75% of my closet is black and white (or maybe gray!)

Maybe I'm just lazy...I feel like I can go in my closet and always feel good about picking out something black or white, but when it comes to color I'm at a loss for coordinating pieces and accessories.

That is all:)

Re: Black and white

  • My winter wardrobe is that way.  I try to focus on one color a season in classic pieces so I can at least not look dreary all the time.  Last year it was purple- royal, plum, lavender, and this year it is green- emerald, pine, turquoise.  It makes my wardrobe still kind of boring but at least I can add color sometimes?

  • I'm a fan of the solid colors, but I'm finding that all I ever want to buy are black tops.  And I'm ok with this.
  • I actually only own 1 black shirt!

Most of my wardrobe is a various shades of green, blue, pink or purple. With the bulk of it being in the green category.

  • I am a huge fan of black. I am wearing a black and white dress at the moment. I typically add color in tights, scarves and accessories so I can change them without changing an entire wardrobe. I know I am majorly boring, but it makes it easier to pack for a business trip with only one or two pairs of shoes,
  • I have an ivory sweater for every day of the week. I like the earth tones.

  • I have most shirts in black and white, but then again most of my tops are solid colors anyways. Im sure I could add some color into my life :o)

  • At least I'm not totally alone:) Some days I feel like I need a stylist just to get out of the house!
  • I am (and always have been) a solid-color kinda girl.  I used to be real bad with the black, but I always had a colored tank underneath it (i always have at least 2 layers too).  Like a black v-neck witih a purple tank.  But now that I wear dress clothes to work, most of my dress pants are black, so I've had to branch out with more colored sweaters and suck.  Now I jsut switch it up and wear the purple sweater with a black tank underneath :)

I pretty much wear one of three colors - purple, red (usually a dark red), and some shade of blue (these days, dark teal/turquoise).  I'm starting to add a little green in there too...

Wearing black a lot also gave me permission to buy things like purple shoes... red shoes... to go with :)

I am always wearing a cami under whatever it is I'm wearing, V-neck or not... I just like the extra layer, and like you said, it gives it more color.

Hmm that's true. I never think about branching out with shoe colors either! Maybe I could start there;)

I have a red pair from Walmart that were like $10, they're super cute and comfy. My bff and sister both went out and got the same pair! :D I have the lack of color problem when it comes to pants, because I have a larger bottom half. But, I'm very into color on the top. I have a more olive undertone to my skin, so bright colors look nice.
  • Yes, but not with black and white.  I actually hate wearing either of those colors.  (She says as she wears her only black shirt.)  I find that I only buy brown, beige, or grey clothes.  If I get a color, it is usually purple, sometimes dark red.  I'm okay with it, though.  I don't like bright colors. :p

  • Rach, you do realize there's a whole store devoted to Black and White clothing right, and it's totally chic?  :)  You could wear a black and white outfit from WHBM every day and look awesome.  I love that store.  I also love when they occasionally throw some color in.  I got the cutest little red satin dress from there for NYE, but I love all their b&w print blouses, skirts and dresses.  At any rate, B&W is always tasteful and classic but throwing color in never hurts, especially with red or yellow shoes. :)  Or jewelry!

I wear pretty much everything, but there was a point in my life where I had to force myself not to buy black tops.
