Road ID--wrist or shoe?

My sweet friends got me a Road ID gift card for my birthday, and I'm trying to decide whether I want the one that goes on my wrist or the one that goes on my shoe. I'm leaning toward the shoe ID because I only use one pair of running shoes at a time so I won't have to worry about forgetting it every time I go out. For those of you who have a Road ID, what are the pros/cons to either the wrist or shoe ID?

Re: Road ID--wrist or shoe?

  • I got the shoe.  With my ipod, garmin, water bottle, sometimes kleenex... I didn't want one more thing to remember to put on before my run.  With it on my shoe, it stays put!

  • I know it's not an option but I got the ankle one and I can't feel it when I run.

I was on the fence but I always see in accidents scenes shoes on the side of the road. I don't want to know if that's the EMS people or the accident. I really hope it's the EMS people.  I don't even like thinking about it.

  • I have the wrist one.  The only con is that on long runs it gets really sweaty, but I just loosen it up some.  Normally I don't ever feel it.  I also wonder if a wrist one would be more noticeable if it were ever truly needed (vice the shoe one would *could* be overlooked?).
  • I got the shoe- one less thing to remember.

  • Shoe, for exactly the reason you listed above. I'd always be forgetting to add my bracelet. Besides, I already wear a wrist pouch on one arm and a watch on the other.

  • Another vote for shoe.

I just think the wrist ones are annoying.

    Hope is not a strategy.
  • I like my wrist one... :)
  • My dad bought me one that can fit my ankle or my wrist. I usually wear it on my ankle.

  • I've never heard of a Road ID - just looked it up and LOVE it.  I'm ordering one for myself and my boss now!  Thanks!  (I had no idea what to get my boss, this is great!)  Thanks ladies!

  • Ok, mixed reviews...I think I'm going to go with the Shoe ID. The wrist ID won't do any good if it's sitting on my dresser while I'm running! Stick out tongue

    Thanks for the advice!
