Park & Ride

Hi!

I'm driving from Portland to Seattle for the marathon this weekend and booked a hotel downtown; however, I hate the overnight parking fees and I'm looking for other parking options.

Is it a good idea to park somewhere (ie Tacoma)  and take a bus to downtown/hotel?  I also looked into Amtrak but there are 2 of us traveling so there isn't much advantage in paying for Amtrak versus parking + gas.

Any ideas? TIA!

  • I live in Tacoma and have taken the bus from Tacoma to downtown several times, though i've never parked overnight.  Security at the parking garage has been good.  It's also free.  Have fun at the race!

I've tried maneuvering  soundtransit.org but can't figure out which bus to take.... Also, is there a safer/more secure parking area/stops than others? Thanks!
