Have you taken an overnight cruise between..

Stockholm, Sweden and Helsinki, Finland?  DH and I are traveling to Sweden next March and April and are drooling over our newest Rick Steves' book.  Steves' book mentions this cruise and we are trying to decide if we should make the time to do it - it sounds like the scenery is absolutely gorgeous.

Any info will be helpful!

Re: Have you taken an overnight cruise between..

  • Before we went to Europe for our backpacking trip, my DH's grandparents highly recommended that we do that (we ended up not being able to because of time and budget constraints).  But they've been all over the world, and they said that cruise was one of the best things they've ever done.  I remember them talking about how beautiful it was.

  • Thanks for the info - I am not sure if we have the time to do it but I have heard such good things about it that I think we need to make the time. I wish I would have known about this cruise prior to booking our flights so we could stay longer.  This is definitely going to the top of my "must do" list.  Thank you!
  • You might want to post this on the travel board.  I know that one of the girls who lived in Finland did one of the cruises to Stockholm, but she doesn't post much these days.  However, one of the girls in Sweden might have done it.

I've heard that the Finns are notorious for booze cruising and that some of the trips are loaded with people taking advantage of the duty free alcohol.

I actually just got back an hour ago from the cruise between Oslo and Kiel, which we did with some friends for my 30th birthday.  It's a much more upscale ship than the cruise from Oslo to Denmark, but there were still plenty of drunk Scandinavians!  It was a lot of fun.
