with all the bbq talk yesterday, i stopped here on my way home to get some take out.
it is north carolina style - so dry rub and vinegar based sauces are used.
we ordered 1/4 rack of ribs, pulled chicken sandwich, corn bread, mac and cheese, and cole slaw.
place: small counter to order, counter with seats. sparse decor.
The food was fantastic. coleslaw is sweet and not mayo based and finely shredded. has carrots. the sauce with the pulled chicken was amazing. i needed more. ribs are dry rub and tastey.
food was super filling - more than we needed!
the most notable thing was the owner. he was gosh golly the friendliest man i encountered in the italian market in a long time.
he asked if i like dark or white with the pulled chicken. asked which end of ribs i would like - gave me a 1/2 rack instead of 1/4 and gave me corn bread on the house. talked me through the sides. i knew i wanted cole slaw - but couldnt decide on the rest. he said well, i was about to take the mac and cheese out of the oven if you can wait a minute. can i? i did.
we chatted a moment more about the neighborhood and the south and other things. his girl friend owns the bsquared gallery in bella vista. bebe perhaps? i'll ask next time.
i would definitely return!
