Our 5 year anniversary is coming up (woot!). We have about $2500-$3000 to spend, including airfare. So, Hawaii is too expensive. We love Puerto Vallarta but June is rainy season, and I don't want to go during rainy season!! We like a decent hotel and eat and drink alot, we aren't very budget-friendly travelers.
We could easily do Vegas, but would much rather do an all-inclusive somewhere fun and tropical. Thanks!
Re: Where to go in June for non-rainy weather?
We went to Playa del Carmen/Tulum for our 1st anni and it was awesome. Went a little over $3K for hotel/airfare/meals/souvenirs for 5/6 nights/days.
Gorgeous white sand beaches and lots of history! Can't wait to go back!
I noticed you're from Oregon. Have you considered Banff/Lake Louise in AB, Canada. Absolutely stunning mountains, scenery etc plus top-notch hotels & food. Plus the weather would be warm & sunny - maybe not beach weather though.
DH & I honeymooned in Punta Cana, DR last June for a week. It only rained twice, so about 95% of the time it was hot & sunny. Downside it was quite humid - but you could definitely get a 5 star hotel for about $1200 - $1500 per person. ( I think we paid $1250 each).
June is such a funny travel month.
What about San Diego or somewhere in Cali?
We are actually trying to plan the same type of trip, let me know what you decide!
We want sunny and super hot, like 90 at least. Banff is gorgeous, but not the kind of trip we want for our first baby-free travel! We want someplace with unlimited cocktails, LOL. So we're open to anywhere, but trying to find an awesome all inclusive!
Have you considered Aruba? It's an arid, desserty climate but still tropical (i.e. it rarely rains). A lot of people recommend not doing AI there because the restaurants are so good, but we did the AI for our HM. We stayed at the Occidental Grand; review in bio. The sand and beach were great; there are lots of activities or you can just sit under a palapa on the beach. There's also a hotel called the Tara Suites at Bucuti, which is not AI, but gets terrific reviews on tripadvisor. The people on the Aruba TA forum talk about picking up booze at the supermarket and keeping it in the fridge in the suite.
We went to Jamaica to Couples Swept Away in late May/ early June, and it was great. However, it was the beginning of the rainy season so it got cloudier every day at 2pm and on 2 days it rained at 5pm for 30 min. Wasn't really a big deal; did not ruin the trip. Here are pics and my review:

Here are some places to check out--they are pricey but might be cheaper in June.
Peter Island, BVI --highly recommend it!
Caneel Bay, USVI
Four Seasons, Nevis
Ritz on Grand Cayman
Fairmont or The Crane on Barbados
Or you could look into Arizona:
Canyon Ranch
The Phoenician
Somewhere in FL-key west, sanibel, amelia island, longboat key
Go to Riviera Maya! DH and I went last June and it was crazy hot, not one drop of rain. They have a ton of beautiful all-adult AI resorts to choose from.
Check out the Palace Resorts: www.palaceresorts.com/Resorts.asp
Also Dreams Resorts - there's a brand new one that just opened, Dreams Riviera Cancun: www.dreamsresorts.com/drerc/index.html
And Secrets: www.secretsresorts.com
For activities, we loved Xel-Ha: www.xelha.com and Xcaret: www.xcaret.com. Both are amazingly fun eco-parks with snorkeling, tubing, and other fun stuff.
Tulum ruins are cool and the beach there is the most gorgeous beach ever. Coba was very interesting, and we climbed the tallest pyramid there. Also, you can take the ferry from Playa del Carmen over to Cozumel as a day trip.
Anyway, you wouldn't be disappointed if you went here, we had the best time ever!
I second Aruba. The island is a desert, aka little rain.
I've also been to the Bahamas in June (rainy season) and never saw a cloud.
