Any inexpensive ideas to feed 30 men dinner?

Re: Any inexpensive ideas to feed 30 men dinner?

  • pulled pork BBQ sandwiches.
  • Sloppy Joes with salad, pasta salad and simple dessert (cookies, caramel bars, lemon bars, etc).
  • Build your own taco/naco and as a pp said, serve some simple deserts.

Just out of total curiosity, what type of party are you cooking for 30 men?

  • the most inexpensive meal you can do is spaghetti and garlic bread with a salad. you can also get bags of meat balls at costco; i would do 6 meat balls per person. Check the back of the bag to see how many come in each bag so you dont under/over buy.
  • I was just gonna say spaghetti!

  • My first thought was chicken and noodles with mashed potatoes.  I put peas and carrots in mine so you get a veggie, but you could also do a side salad.

Spaghetti or lasagna are also cheap alternatives.

  • Grilled chicken leg quarters, potato salad and baked beans (with bacon strips baked on top). . .hearty, but the main ingredients are really thrifty.

  • ditto pasta. and chicken. or something with a lot of potatoes--potatoes are cheap, right?
  • Ditto for the pizza and beer!!

Chili is cheap and can go pretty far...so is spaghetti.  Rice and daal is another alternative.

  • How about a chili bar type thing.  Make a huge pot of chili then have hot dogs and spaghetti they can put the chili on.  Then set up a station of cheese, crackers, onions, and jalapenos they can top the chili with.

Hmm, I might have to do this for my next party.

  • I won't have 30 men, but I think 20 on Monday for DH's fantasy football draft at my house.  Our menu:

Appetizers - frozen meatballs marinated in jelly and bbq sauce in the slowcooker (no supervision needed), chips / dip, peanuts
Dinner - frozen pulled pork (Costco sells a great package) which I pull apart, marinate with BBQ sauce, and heat in oven for 1/2 hr... this will be served in hoagies.
Drinks - beer of course... and sodas
Dessert - last time i baked some brownies, and they were in heaven.  This may be done again.
