Re: ~Trying for a While~ Check-In

  • Nothing new here. I'm just looking forward to 'trying' at home away from familial earshot. Wink

I have no idea where I am in my cycle but I do have a few cheapy tests I bought while over there if AF doesn't show up soon. She is seriously overdue but is usually unfashionably late.Confused

  • How freaky... I had every pregnancy symptom know to mankind this cycle. I think I had massive PMS paired with stomach flu in reality, but man what a time to have both strike. So unfair. I started spotting today so at least I know it's PMS and excuse time for a major chocolate binge. LOL

I hope yours is the real thing and not crappy PMS. (why is there no crossing fingers smiliey icon?!?!?)

Next week is August, which means we finally get to call and schedule our first IVF appointment. They said expect a September start so the finish line for the "hello, it isn't going to happen naturally so just get on with the test tube method already" is getting closer and closer......

  • Loopy - hopefully you'll get a pleasant surprise soon and see that your relaxing vacation did the trick.

I'm doing well.  I have cysts again, but that's nothing new, my doctor will continue to monitor their growth.  I was triggered yesterday, so I should definitely ovulate this cycle and have a chance.

  • Loopy: I hope AF stays away!

Snicker: Good luck with your IVF appt.

Alwybsy: Enjoy taking advantage of the trigger and good luck!

  • I have a worry that I'm heading toward an early menopause.  My periods are getting a bit different, I'm much more emotional in the last six months...I haven't been using my fertility monitor the last three months but am going to do so in the next cycle so I can see if I'm ovulating cause that will give me my answer.

Just remember the ovulation predictor kit doesn't tell you or guaruntee that you've ovulated.  You can get a positive OPK and not ovulate or ovulate later.

  • Not much new here. Our fertility clinic is still doing paperwork on our procedure so we're still 3 months out from ivf and trying the old fashioned way...can't hurt, right?!

    Melaina, thanks for the info!

Does a fertility kit test tell me if I really am ovulating or not?  I must have bought the wrong test at CVS back home.  Bummer, there goes $20 down the drain.

Nope.  What it tells you is when you body is getting an LH surge.  When you get an LH surge it means your body is gearing up to ovulate, usually within 24-48 hours.

HOWEVER, your body might not ovulate or might ovulate later.  The only way to tell you have ovulated (at home) is to chart your basal body temperature; you'll see a thermal shift (3 higher temps) that indicate ovulation.

So OPK's are a useful 3rd tool in predicting ovulation, but are not a 100% fool proof method.  I used them in combination with charting CM and BBT.

Also, it is pretty easy to miss your LH surge.  I used to test at 5pm and never got positives and then tried testing at noon and 5pm and realized I was more likely to catch a surge at noon.  Everyone is different.

Good morning.  I have my first doctor appointment since being in Australia on Monday.  Hopefully she will be a good match for me.  Other than that, nothing new here.

I know what you mean.  For some reason I found out yesterday that Tom Brady and Gisele are now expecting.  They just got friggin' married.  I don't know why this bothered me, but it did.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I almost lost it when stupid Kendra from Girls of the Playboy Mansion got knocked up.
