Motivation v. Discipline

Reading all of these posts about motivation got me thinking. Isn't working out/weight loss less about motivation, and more about discipline? I feel like in the beginning, you might need motivation to start, but motivation is the sort of thing that dissipates over time. You just can't feel motivated all the time. To really succeed, you need to form habits and be disciplined.

That's all- I just figured I would share my little epiphany.

Re: Motivation v. Discipline

  • Yes, I believe that there is a lot of truth in that, though motivation doesn't always have to wane.  I'm very motivated, but do lack discipline; hence why I'm not losing weight!  :)
  • Discipline before Desire is my motto.
  • totally agree.  I am motivated to lose weight, but my food discipline sucks.

  • I love your comment! Especially considering I was one of those people asking how people find motivation!

This helped me realize.. I don't need it necessarily! I just need to get out there and be disciplined every day..
