Paycheck Question........

So when I was playing around on Paycheckcity.com, i realized that there is not an option for AZ State Tax, but instead they ask about withholding a certain % of federal. How does this work, and how do you find out what % you should withhold so that you dont have to pay in at the end of the year??

TIA!

Re: Paycheck Question........

  • Hi there...

I am looking at my current AZ A-4 withholding form I filled out last year and it looks as if it is based on your annual compensation.  If your annual compensation is $15,000 or more your options of withholding are 19%, 23%, 25%, 31%, and 37% of the federal tax withheld.   If it's less than $15,000, your withholding options would be 10%, 19%, 23%, 25%, 31% and 37% of the federal tax withheld.  I make $31,000 and choose 19% and I usually or almost always break even at the end of the tax year.  I hope this helps.  I don't understand how it all works, but I thought I would give you this tidbit.

  • Oh and BTW, you can go to Az. Dept of Revenue to get more info on this!!!
  • Thanks for the information. It was confusing to read about. I will have to go over to the AZ dept. of Revenue to find out what we should do. I am a SAHM, and DH will make about 75K (give or take) so i dont want to be F'd come tax time, haha!
