S.Jersey Knottie needs advice

We just booked trip to Phoenix for long weekend.  We like to golf but not sure if DH will be ready (hand surgery tomm). Anyway what is good place to stay? Should we get a car? Really I have one goal in mind - ok two: go to Dan Majerle's grill and eat In n Out Burger! Any suggestions would be awesome

  • I had to look up Dan Majerle's, I've never heard of it.  There's two in the valley, downtown and Chandler.  Neither are great places to stay.  I would definately suggest getting a car, Phoenix is very sprawl and the public transportation sucks.  There are In n Outs all over, so you're safe there.  I would suggest staying in central Scottsdale, somewhere near Scottsdale Rd. and Camelback.  There's a ton of restuarants, bars and shopping.  There is a trolly that covers the "downtown" Scottsdale area, so that helps with bar hopping.

As far as golfing, there is around 200 courses, so you can go anywhere.  Prices for hotels and golfing are dirt cheap this time of year, due to the exteme heat.  I've been seeing some great cheap hotel packages lately.

  • I'm a Jersey girl too!!

Yes, you definitely need a car. It all depends on where you want to stay-scottsdale has tons of hotels and resorts. Personally we stayed at the 3 palms when we scouted the area last year. Its in South was ok. NOthing spectacular but close to old scottsdale and restaurants.

    Enjoy your trip :)

  • A car is a must.  I have to admit I'm not really a fan of Marjele's but if you go before a DBacks game it may be kinda cool.

Here are some lists for you-

  • I dig Marjele's, but then again I'm a Suns fan... have fun when you come out!
  • Where in Jersey are you from? I'm from North but have lived in AZ for 8 years. Scottsdale is where the best golf resorts are so you might want to check out that area and DT Scottsdale is where the good restaurants and clubs are if youre into that.
